Job Summary: The Senior
Internal Auditor will support the Audit Manager in the management of the department
and in the effective discharge of responsibilities by furnishing him with
objective appraisal and recommendations.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Support
and supervise internal auditors in performing their duties and
responsibilities. - Prepare
and implement audit programs to ensure adequate audit coverage, minimize
duplicate audit efforts, and achieve value for money in line with the
Annual Audit plan. - Furnish
the supervisor on a daily basis with reports on key issues that came to
the attention of the Function. - Intuitively
review the means of safeguarding assets and verify the existence of such
assets. - Establish
and maintain a quality assurance program to evaluate internal audit
operations and performance. - Support
the supervisor in reviewing the soundness and application of all systems,
procedures and plans, including internal controls and their compliance to
good utility management practices. - Assist
in the investigation of significant suspected fraud and report the results
to the supervisor. - Actively
participate in sensitive disciplinary proceedings when called upon - Study
and introduce new systems for better control and improvement - Support
and assist in matters related to ISO, Procedures and implementation - Work
closely with the supervisor; Identify, evaluate existing and potential
risks facing the company and suggest internal controls, policies and procedures
to manage them. - Document
audit working papers, audit evidence and information gathered during audit
execution. - Perform
any other assignment as may be assigned from time to time by the
supervisor in line with relevant procedures.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- The
applicant should hold Full professional ACCA, CPA, CIMA or other
internationally recognized professional accounting qualification. - Past
experience in IMS audits - Professional
membership of the Institute of Internal Auditors/ICPA (U). - A
minimum of three or more years post certification experience 2 of which
have to be at a senior management level in a large, reputable organization
in audit. - Possess
the ability to supervise a team - Good
numerical ability - Attention
to detail/accuracy - High
degree 0f integrity - Excellent
analytical skills - Possess
the ability to work in a team - Taking
initiative – be proactive rather than reactive - Ability
to communicate well and influence
others i.e. clear and effective written and oral communications,
exercising tact and diplomacy when dealing with auditees/ colleagues
throughout the audit; - Ability
to negotiate skillfully to effect a positive outcome and project audit
function positively at all times; - Sensitivity
to cultural factors in communication and listening to others and being
responsive to their comments
