(UWT) is a Non-Governmental Organization (NGO) which operates at a national
level with the aim of reaching out to low income women equipping them with
knowledge, attitudes and skills necessary for resource mobilization and
creating entrepreneurial opportunities.
Program Officer will support UWT’s efforts of enhancing the Social Economic
status of Low Income Women through the provision of technical support to the
Uganda Women’s Trust program staff, in the planning and implementation of
relevant projects/activities and making available resources, knowledge and
skills for low income women in Uganda. The Senior Programme Officer will be
mainly involved in UWT programming and resource mobilization for low income
women in Uganda. He or she will also play a key role in monitoring and
evaluation of project activities.
- Intuitively
review UWT strategic areas and plan relevant projects and activities - Plan,
implement and coordinate field activities - Manage
the implementation of all planned activities - Prepare
weekly, monthly, quarterly and annual programme reports - Supervise
the Programme Officer and other programme staff - Deputize
the Executive Director when absent - Make
programme presentations at different fora internally and externally - Identify
possible capacity gaps in the programme implementation process and make recommendations
for improvements - Source
for and identify potential programme funders for ED’s follow up - Evaluate
performance of projects, collaborating with NGOs/CBOs in the field and
make relevant recommendations - Oversee
and take lead of the advocacy and research initiatives - Build
effective relationships and good rapport with stakeholders, - Perform
any other duties as will be assigned.
- Regular
review of strategic plan components with recommendations to achieve better
results - Timely
feedback and production of weekly, monthly, quarterly, periodic and annual
progress reports indicating achievements made, challenges faced and
recommendations for overcoming them in future - Favourable
working relationships with stakeholders - Timely
feedback for project/activities and improvements for better results, - Cost-effectiveness
in the use of financial resources and logistics - Excellent
team work with office staff, partners and stakeholders.
- All
candidates should possess a Degree from a recognized University,
preferably in Economic Empowerment of Women, Development Studies, Social
Sciences, law, economics, education or any other production oriented
disciplines. - At
least seven years working experience with a good track record in
project/programme management. - Professional
qualification in Management or related areas will be an added advantage - Detailed
knowledge of financial management and donor funding and reporting
requirements will be an added advantage. - Extensive
working knowledge of principles, standards and issues affecting poor and
vulnerable communities, particularly women. - Strong
strategic thought, results oriented and process facilitation skills. - Good
leadership & advocacy skills. - Prior
management experience - Strong
conceptual skills to enable holder to implement activities of a fast
moving nature, - Ability
to work independently with minimal supervision. - Taking
personal initiative and consistently providing practical solutions to urgent issues, - Excellent
computer skills in especially word, Power Point, Excel, Internet etc., - Excellent
interpersonal and communication skills - Excellent
analytical and reporting skills - Possess
the ability to manage and prioritise multiple tasks
