provide legal education to lawyers and non lawyers, undertake research in
topical legal issues, contribute to legal reform, produce legal publications,
teaching materials, law reports and also provide community legal services. Some
of It’s key functions include;
- To
provide legal training to lawyers and non lawyers - To
research into topical legal issues and recommend proposals for law reform - To
provide law reports and legal publications - To
provide community legal services
incumbent will offer general legal counsel to clients.
- Offer
support services for the legal work of the Legal Aid Clinic. - Service
of summons, plaints, statements of defence and other courts documents. - Drafting
and filing of standard documents. - Attending
court to receive rulings and judgments and undertake other court
assignments. - Delivering
correspondences and documents. - Responsible
for the preparation and submission of monthly progress and activity
reports to the Senior Legal Officer. - Perform
any other duties assigned by the Senior Legal Officer LAC or Head of
Department.
- The
applicant should possess a good Diploma in Law from the Law Development
Centre (First or Second Class). - A
minimum of three or more years’ experience as a Law Clerk in a Law Firm,
Court of Law or Legal Aid Service Provider.
