Job Summary: The
Agronomist will be responsible for developing and implementing the company’s
Raw material production plan by identifying the most suitable areas and
managing planting programs which will ensure timely and consistent Raw material
supplies to the processing units.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- The
jobholder will be responsible for scheduling all the agronomical
activities relating to crop husbandry (planting , harvesting, quality
control etc ) in the Unit to comply with the planting program issued by
the company. - Make
sure that the desired planting targets given by the company are achieved. - Intuitively
organize and coordinate timely crop protection and fertilizer application. - Ensure
that the target crop yields per acre are achieved in both quality and
quantity. - Ensure
that all the growing activities are in compliance with the company’s
policies, GAP standards and other relevant standards. - Mentor
and coach a team capable of executing the planting and the production
program. - Ensure
that staff are adequately trained, properly instructed and equipped with
skills required to undertake their roles efficiently. - Offer
daily, weekly, monthly and annual forecasts for the expected volumes from
the entire growing base. - Quickly
respond to management’s request for any impromptu information regarding
supplies and when needed. - Keenly
attend the management planning and review meetings either as scheduled or
on short but manageable notice.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- The
ideal candidate for the Agronomist career opportunity should possess a
Diploma/Bachelor of Science in Horticulture or any Tropical agriculture
related course - At
least five years’ experience in any of the following crops Legumes,
Tomatoes, Potatoes and Fruits production either in plantations or with
small scale holders’ schemes. - Willingness
to travel and work within East Africa with Minimum supervision. - The
applicant should be people oriented and have demonstrated leadership
qualities, proven integrity and self driven and motivated.
