UCO implements a number of national programmes promoting environment conservation
in Uganda. WWF’s mission is to stop the degradation of our planet’s natural
environment, and build a future in which humans live in harmony with nature.
Assistant-Solar Installation Technician will primarily install and maintain
solar photovoltaic (PV) systems in line with the EU project and WWF UCO
objectives.
Responsibilities:
- Install solar photovoltaic (PV) systems in
designated locations in line with WWF project guidelines and equipment
manuals. - Carry out routine solar photovoltaic (PV)
system maintenance and resolve any deficiencies in line with the WWF
project guidelines and equipment manuals. - Prepare activity plans and budgets for
installation activities in line with the WWF guidelines. - Perform periodic technical support to
end-users for correct use of solar PV systems in liaison with the project
officer in line with WWF guidelines. - Identify installation locations with
proper orientation and structural integrity for solar photovoltaic (PV)
systems and advise the project team accordingly in line with the project
guidelines. - Carry out regular training and capacity
building sessions in photovoltaic (PV) installation, usage, and
maintenance among the targeted groups in liaison with key project partners
in Kasese district in line with WWF guidelines. - Compile and submit activity reports
through documentation of installation and maintenance activities, logs,
and records in line with project guidelines.
Experience:
- The applicant should preferably hold a
good Diploma in Electrical Installation or related field. - A minimum of two to three years
professional experience in solar systems in installation/renewable energy
technologies. - Past exposure and experience in solar
systems installation is an added advantage. - Must possess a valid riding permit
- Good understanding of solar systems
installation and renewable energy technologies in Uganda; - Possess eEffective oral and written
communication of technical issues to both technical and non-technical
audiences; - Excellent analytical and innovative
problem-solving ability; - Possess the ability to remain effective
under circumstances of minimum supervision and as a team member. - Demonstrated capacity to have a flexible
schedule and willing on occasion to work longer hours to complete the
installation activities; - Comfortable climbing ladders plus standing
and working on residential roof tops - The applicant must be detail-oriented and
have the ability to multi-task under limited supervision. - Fluency in English and at least one other
major language spoken in the Albertine region
