Conservation International USA
(AfrII) has received funding from the Conservation International USA for the
implementation of the Vital Signs Project in Uganda.
Socioeconomic Technical Manager is responsible for overseeing the technical
implementation and logistics for gathering socioeconomic and household metrics.
SI he will manage and coordinate field teams for accurate collection and
uploading of socioeconomic data.
- Manage,
coordinate and supervise a team of field enumerators who conduct field and
household surveys; s/he will also work as an enumerator; - Pro-actively
coordinate and oversee the day to day socio-economic and household data
collection using household surveys and agricultural plot measurements; - Responsible
for data-checking and quality control and ensuring transmission of data
into Vital Signs data servers; - Works
closely with local officials to obtain relevant local/district permissions
for the surveys; - Prepare
weekly plans, weekly performance reports and field work budgets for the
Socioeconomic team and submit to the Country Director for approval; - Quickly
report regularly on work progress, challenges and incidents to the Country
Director, and ensure the socioeconomic team submits financial returns for
all the advanced funds on time; - Support
in reviewing other census datasets related to human practices, crop
productivity, and-various aspects of poverty and development.
- The
ideal candidate should hold a minimum of MSc in Economics, Social
Sciences, Development Studies, or related fields. - A
minimum of three or more years’ experience in conducting socioeconomic
surveying work and managing field teams. - Possess
a high degree of flexibility and ability to learn new skills and train
others after identifying the development needs - Highly
skilled in the use of tools like questionnaires, farm field mapping,
anthropometric measurements and GPS - Good
negotiation skills for moderating communication within the team with
stakeholders and local government authorities - Interpersonal
skills to maintain cooperation with the field team - Possess
the ability to work outside normal business hours as may be required in
the field
