Signs Project
Conservation International USA
(AfrII) has received funding from the Conservation International USA for the
implementation of the Vital Signs Project in Uganda.
- Responsible
for the direct supervision and management of in-country Vital Signs team
and providing technical oversight on all Vital Signs field activities,
including coordination and ensuring quality control of Vital Signs protocol
implementation, and ensuring timely uploading of high quality data from
the field team to Vital Signs information systems; - Communicating
any logistical and methodological challenges encountered during
implementation to the Afrll chairman, the African Field Director (AFD) and
sometimes to the Technical Council; - Provide
weekly plan, weekly performance and quarterly report to CEO-Afrll and
reports to AFD; - Regularly
conduct data checking and quality control for completeness and accuracy
before transmitting them to the Vital Signs server using tablets; - Actively
coordinate and manage the accounting, reporting and general financial
administration to meet the requirements of Afrll, Conservation
International and donor; - Responsible
for coordination of trainings and capacity buildings for in-country team
in coordination with AFD and Vital Signs technical councils and in
partnership with relevant internal and external partners; - Ensure
the project equipment inventory is updated every quarter and the status of
the equipment should be reported to the AFD; - Work
closely with the relevant partner institutions in Uganda to facilitate
progress with Vital Signs Uganda country data collections and general
awareness raising.
- The
ideal candidate should hold an MSc in Agriculture, Natural Resources
Management, Environmental /Ecological Sciences, Economics, Social-
economics or Development Studies. Possession of a PhD in the above fields
will be of great advantage. - At
least five years of experience in data collection and managing field
teams. - Significant
experience with working and coordinating field based teams in rural areas
and extended periods of work based at field sites are essential. - Excellent
interpersonal skills, communicator, flexible person, quick to learn new
skills and tools related to socio-economic, biophysical and environmental
data collection. - Capable
of spending at least 30% of the time in the field especially in remote
areas where data will be collected. - Ability
to establish and maintain inter-personal relationships, develop
constructive and co-operative working relationships with others and be
able to motivate the team to deliver highest standard data sets. - Prior
experience in managing and coordinating implementation of complex field
projects will be an added advantage
