Climate Smart Agribusiness a UK Department for International Development funded
project which is an initiative to provide agricultural market development and
climate technical advisory services delivered in line with the Making Markets
Work for the Poor (M4P) approach to improve the lives of small holder farmers
in Northern Uganda. We are seeking expressions of interest for the position/s
of Agri-Economist.
Agri-Economist’s key focus will be to
ensure that the programme’s interventions in agribusiness value chains and
markets, including out including grower schemes effectively benefit smallholder
farmers in the North Uganda. The incumbent will work closely with the other
managers and consultants to design, implement and monitor interventions. You
will manage relevant technical inputs, and identify strategies for effective
execution of the programme’s objectives.
Experience:
- The ideal candidate should possess a post
graduate degree in Economics or a related field. - At least seven years’ experience working
in agricultural markets with commercial organisations. - Strong background in undertaking financial
and economic appraisals and possessing strong analytical ability. - Past exposure and experience working in a
number of countries within East or Sub Saharan Africa. - Good report writing, presentation and
excellent computer skills (at least MS Office products e.g. excel, word,
and power point). - Experience in managing interventions.
- Possession of a Masters in Agricultural
Economics is desirable - Prior experience working in Uganda is also
desired - Prior experience working on market
development donor programmes, particularly those that use a Making Markets
