International (AAH-I) is an African-led non-profit making agency that
implements health and development projects in Africa.
Job Summary: The Country
Director has overall responsibility for AAH-I programs and operations in
Uganda, and represents AAH-I with the Government, donors, partners, among other
key stakeholders to foster a supportive environment for AAH-I’s work. He/she
directs and supervises programs, ensuring that they are planned, implemented
and coordinated within the overall AAH-I program strategy and donor guidelines.
He/she is responsible for mobilizing resources for the country programs and
ensures prudent management of the resources to achieve the desired results. The
Country Director steers and supervises a staff of over 200 employees working in
different parts of the country. He/she is responsible for further growing the
AAH Uganda country program and expanding its funding sources.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience: 
  • The
    ideal candidate should preferably hold a Master’s degree in the social
    sciences with significant experience in public health and project
    development and management;
  • Excellent
    track record of leadership, with at least 10 years progressive senior
    management experience supervising complex programs funded by major
    multilateral or bilateral donor agencies;
  • Demonstrated
    field leadership in strategic program and project development,  implementation, and evaluation;
  • Good
    track record in resource mobilization;
  • Exhibit
    commitment to promote the organization’s Vision, Mission and its strategic
    goals;
  • Inspiring
    leadership with excellent communication and interpersonal skills;
  • Excellent
    diplomatic skills and ability to create positive relations with senior
    government officials, heads of diplomatic missions, international
    organizations, NGOs and CBOs to enhance the organization, country
    programmes;
  • Past
    exposure and experience with financial management and compliance with
    donor requirements;
  • Entrepreneurial
    orientation, self-starter able to work independently and cope with
    demanding work situation.
