About UCDA:
The Uganda Coffee Development Authority (UCDA) is mandated UCDA to: “Oversee the coffee industry by supporting research, promoting production, controlling the quality and improving the marketing of coffee in order to optimise foreign exchange earnings for the country and payments to farmers.”
Job Summary: The Quality Controller will primarily carry our routine inspection of export lots by ensuring that the quality of coffee for export conforms to international standards and to witness loading of coffee onto containers/wagons.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Perform pre-shipment inspection of all export coffee by drawing samples for physical and sensory analysis.
- Carry out routine analytical procedures, physical and sensory tastes, on coffee samples.
- Keep an up-to-date register of findings on all coffee samples analysed.
- Compile quality data required for writing certificates, reports and publications.
- Oversee export loading and ensure all containers and wagons are sealed.
- Participate in the coffee consumption promotional programmes.
- Offer technical guidance in basic quality control training programmes.
- Perform any other duties as may be assigned by Management
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- The Quality Controller officers must hold an Honours Bachelor of Science in Food Science & Technology, Chemistry, Biochemistry, Bachelor of Science degree in Agriculture with a Post Graduate Diploma in Food Science.;
- A minimum of two or more years working experience in coffee quality control or Laboratory activities.
- Highly self-driven and possess personal initiative;
- Good report writing interpersonal, and communication skills.
