build local capacity and empower local families and communities to break the
cycle of poverty. We are present on the ground in 38 developing countries in
Africa, Asia, and Latin America and operate in Agriculture & Food Security,
Renewable Energy, and Water, Sanitation & Hygiene. Our more than 1,000
advisors in the field come from a variety of cultural and technical backgrounds,
and over 80 per cent are nationals of the countries where we work.
SNV has been working in Uganda
since 1989. SNV works with over 80 local service providers to reach 200,000
families in over 100 districts. We focus on three sectors: Agriculture,
Renewable Energy and Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH). We provide
market-oriented advisory services, facilitate evidence-based advocacy and
promote knowledge development aligned with Government of Uganda policies and
priorities in the local contexts of communities we serve.
Job Summary: The Team
Leaders will primarily manage and steer these teams. The team leaders will
manage the programme implementation and oversee its performance, management and
operations at regional level. The team leaders will provide timely technical,
administrative, logistical and supervisory support to the regional teams,
partners and districts. In addition, we expect our team leaders to be content
leaders in the field of sanitation and hygiene.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Offer
    guidance and technical assistance on activities
  • Actively
    coordinate with consultants and local implementing partners, and provide
    strategic assistance on all program components;
  • Solve
    problems under tight deadlines while ensuring operational and program
    integrity;
  • Assist
    with timely, high-quality and complete submission of work plans and
    performance and financial reports;
  • Actively
    coordinate project implementation with other SNV programmes and other
    relevant projects within the districts covered, to ensure synergy and
    maximize impact;
  • Ensure
    proper and regular coordination with relevant District Local Governments,
    and integration with other on-going relevant district activities.
  • Offer
    regional oversight of contract activities.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience: 
  • The
    applicant should hold a Master’s degree in a relevant field;
  • The
    applicants should have at least five to ten years of experience (depending
    on the specific positions), preferably in implementing donor-funded
    programmes in water and sanitation;
  • Significant
    experience in working with District Local Government and local civil
    society organisations;
  • Proven
    experience working cooperatively with a variety of local stakeholders,
    other projects and international agencies;
  • Fluency
    in English (written and oral).
  • Proficiency
    in Ugandan local language(s) an added value;
  • Preferably
    experience in working with gender-specific and youth-relevant
    interventions.
