provide legal education to lawyers and non lawyers, undertake research in
topical legal issues, contribute to legal reform, produce legal publications,
teaching materials, law reports and also provide community legal services. Some
of It’s key functions include;
- To
provide legal training to lawyers and non lawyers - To
research into topical legal issues and recommend proposals for law reform - To
provide law reports and legal publications - To
provide community legal services
Officers – Legal Aid Clinic will offer general legal counsel to clients.
- Interview
and provide general legal counsel to clients. - Draft
and prepare legal and court documents. - Represent
clients in courts of law, mediation/arbitration proceedings and or other
tribunals. - Responsible
for the formulation of articles for the LDC journal and newsletter. - Preparation
and submission of monthly progress and activity reports to the Manager,
Legal Aid Clinic. - Maintaining
proper and up-to-date client’s records and files. - Performing
any other duties assigned by the Manager LAC.
- The
applicant should hold an LLB from a recognized University. - Postgraduate
Diploma in Legal Practice from Law Development Centre. - A
minimum of two or more years of professional experience. - The
applicant must be enrolled advocate. - Past
exposure and experience in litigation, probono work and legal aid service
provision is an added advantage.
