Renewable Energy and Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH). We provide
market-oriented advisory services, facilitate evidence-based advocacy and
promote knowledge development aligned with Government of Uganda policies and
priorities in the local contexts of communities we serve.
Governance Advisor will have primary responsibility for working with District
Local Governments, local civil society and private sector to strengthen service
delivery within the sanitation and hygiene sub-sector. The adviser must
demonstrate exceptional technical leadership to strengthen the transparent use
of resources and enable citizen engagement in planning and monitoring to
produce results in WASH provision at the local government authority levels.
- Support
technical requirements related to all governance activities, including
project results and deliverables, in accordance with project. - Take
part in district based coordination, planning, and reporting meetings. - Support
and provide mentorship to LCB and Umbrella Organizations in areas of
governance and accountability - Actively
collaborate with team members to identify advocacy for good WASH
governance interventions and scale up best practices. - Foster
and support partnerships among regional team, District Local Government
WASH Team, and sustainability structures such as WUC and Hand Pump
Mechanic Association. - Support
and mentor board members of small town WASH to ensure transparency;
accountability and good governance are practiced. - Assist
and facilitate gender planning and youth involvement in WASH activities.
- The
applicant should hold a Master’s degree in a relevant field; - The
applicants should have at least five to ten years of experience (depending
on the specific positions), preferably in implementing donor-funded
programmes in water and sanitation; - Significant
experience in working with District Local Government and local civil society
organisations; - Proven
experience working cooperatively with a variety of local stakeholders,
other projects and international agencies; - Fluency
in English (written and oral). - Proficiency
in Ugandan local language(s) an added value; - Preferably
experience in working with gender-specific and youth-relevant
interventions.
