1993. Independent, private and not-for-profit, ACTED respects a strict

non-discrimination and transparency principles. ACTED’s vocation is to support
vulnerable populations worldwide and to accompany them in the construction of a
better future. The programmes implemented by ACTED in Africa, Asia, Middle East
and Latin America/Caribbean, aim at addressing the needs of the populations
affected by wars, natural catastrophes and/or economical and social crisis. ACTED
has been present in Uganda since 2007, and currently implements its
interventions in Gulu, Anaka, (Acholi regions) as well as in ‘Nakapiripirit
(Karamoja region) where the organization works on a cross-border basis with
North Pokot District of Kenya.
Job Summary: The Program
Officers DRR will be responsible for organizing the beneficiaries in each
division to implement the project activities and to facilitate and monitor
these same activities in order to comply with ACTED rules and procedures.
Key Duties and Responsibilities: 
1. Project Implementation:
  • Work
    closely with communities, beneficiaries and local authorities.
  • Perform
    beneficiary identification and selection.
  • Conduct
    beneficiary training and sensitization.
  • Support
    in the weekly and monthly planning.
  • Responsible
    for the daily implementation of field activities.
  • Carry
    out assessments.
  • Assist
    with weekly , bi weekly and monthly reporting to the project manager.
  • Keep
    the project manager regularly updated on all issues related to the project
    activities.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience: 
  • The
    applicant should preferably hold a good Bachelor’s degree in rural
    economic or social science discipline
  • Three
    to four years’ experience with CMDRR (Community managed disaster risk
    reduction) and Cash for work programs preferably within an African
    context.
    Strong organizational, interpersonal and community management skills
  • Excellent
    track record in managing community teams effectively
  • Strong
    communications and interpersonal skills with evidence of ability to
    interact with a wide range and level of stakeholders (government, private
    sector, NGOs).
  • Excellent
    conceptual, analytical and writing skills
  • Excellent
    oral / written communication skills
  • Possess
    excellent Report writing skills
  • Must
    be proficient in English.
