10 Admin Job Vacancies – Stenographer Secretary at Education Service Commission (ESC)

About ESC:
The Education Service Commission is established by article 167 91) of
the 1995 Constitution of the Republic of Uganda and article 168 (1) sets out
its functions, authority and autonomy in implementing its mandate. The vision
of Education Service Commission is to see “quality education delivered by
efficient and effective education service personnel.”
Key Duties and
Responsibilities: 
  • The jobholder takes dictations and
    transcribes.
  • The Secretary routinely types and presents
    work for signature.
  • Receives and files correspondences,
    minutes and other documents.
  • Cordially receives visitors and attends to
    their queries.
  • Receives telephone calls and channels them
    to appropriate offices.
  • Books and schedules appointments for the
    Head of Institution.
  • Receives and dispatches mail.
  • Drafts letters and prepares response to
    simple routine letters.
  • The Secretary is in charging of
    managing  the office welfare and
    ensure that the office is well facilitated and secure.
  • Performs any other duty assigned by the
    relevant authority. 
Qualifications, Skills and
Experience: 
  • The ideal candidate for the aforementioned
    Administrative  Jobs should hold a
    UNEB Certificate or Diploma in Secretarial Studies or equivalent qualifications
    from a recognized Institution in the following subjects : Business
    Communication Stage II, Typewriting Stage II (40 w.p.m), Shorthand Stage
    II (80/90 w. p.m), Office Practice II / Secretarial Duties II, Computer
    knowledge using word processing package.
  • Hold an Ordinary Level Certificate with 2
    credits including English Language and 3 passes.
  • At least two (2) years working experience
    in secretarial work.
  • Knowledge of the Principles of Accounts
    Stage II is an advantage
  • Proficiency in Economics or Commerce II is
    also considered an advantage
  • Computer literacy skills and knowledge
    using several packages is highly desired
  • Working knowledge of using several office
    machines
Age: Below 50 Years

on the Education Service Commission (ESC) Form 3 (1998), to the Secretary,
Education Service Commission, P.O. Box 7196, Kampala, Uganda. The ESC Form 3
(1998) is obtainable from Education Service Commission, 1st Floor Farmers House,
Parliament Avenue, Kampala or Ministry of Education and Sports Kampala or
District Service Commission Offices.
The applications should bear the title of the post as well as the
reference number specified against the vacancy
All applicants should attach photocopies of their academic certificates
and transcripts plus recent passport size photographs and any other relevant
documents to each copy of the application forms. Serving Officers must route
their applications through their Head of School, who should be advised on the
closing date to ensure submission within the deadline.
