Capacity Development Coordinator (CDC) for the USAID program will support civil
society, the judiciary, and the media in Uganda. The CDC will be responsible
for monitoring the implementation of Institutional Strengthening Plans (ISPs)
for up to ten organizations, conducting pre-award assessments of small grants
partners, and providing mentorship and training to partners in identified
areas.
- Manages
the implementation of the Institutional Strengthening Plans (ISPs) for up
to ten civil society organizations, including providing hands-on
mentorship and training, regular check-in meetings with key staff, and
sharing resources. - Compile
and produce quarterly reports on partners’ progress towards achieving the
goals outlined in their ISP. - Develop
solicitations and conduct interviews to identify experts to lead trainings
in key areas outlined in the ISPs. - Convene
annual review meetings with partners to assess progress towards fully
implementing the ISPs. - Collect
tools and resources that can be readily available to assist partners in
retard to implementing their ISPs. - Assist
the Senior Grants Manager in conducting the pre-award capacity assessments
for small grants (Tier Two) partners. - Support
the M&E Specialist to track progress and indicators around capacity
development of partner organizations. - Document
lessons learned and share with Rights & Rule of Law staff and USAID,
through the Collaboration, Learning, and Adapting (CLA) meetings. - Participate
in Rights & Rule of Law annual work plan design meetings. - Perform
any other tasks as assigned by the Senior Grants Manager or COP.
- The
candidate should hold a good Bachelor’s degree in managerial studies,
program management, or other related area. - At
least three years’ experience utilizing the Organizational Capacity
Assessment (OCA) or similar tool to assess the capacity of civil society
organizations such as the Organizational Network Analysis (ONA). - Demonstrated
knowledge of USAID rules and regulations. - Three-to-five
years’ experience training organizations in areas such as human resource
management, financial management, strategic planning, reporting, etc. - Strong
organizational and time management skills; a demonstrated ability to work
independently and under tight deadlines. - Ability
to work closely with staff members at various levels of the organization
and engage with a variety of different stakeholders. - Proactive
problem-solving skills and a flexible attitude. - Willingness
and ability to travel regularly to different project sites around Uganda. - Excellent
cross-cultural skills and familiarity with gender equality principles. - Strong
ability to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in
writing. Language Skills in Luganda and/or Luo preferred. - Demonstrated
commitment to professionalism and security of data and data sources,
particularly in sensitive environments; ability to maintain
confidentiality regarding all aspects of work at all times.
