Job Summary: The Program
Officer will offer technical and programmatic support to FANTA technical staff
and the Project Manager. This includes support to meetings, trainings, and
events; research (e.g. literature reviews and IRB); and implementation of key
FANTA initiatives including the Uganda Nutrition Fellowship, and to track
progress on FANTA activities using smart sheet. The Program Officer
collaborates closely with the Program Associate and supports the entire FANTA
team in Uganda. The Program Officer communicates regularly with the FANTA team
in Uganda and Washington to manage activities and ensure that work plan implementation
remains on track.

Key Duties and
Responsibilities:
Responsibilities:
- Support in the organization of trainings
and workshops, specifically development of meeting creative briefs and
agendas/programmes, coordinating with speakers/facilitators, preparing
materials and content. - Work closely with the program associate as
necessary to ensure appropriate logistics are arranged, venue procurement,
purchase of materials, and management of onsite logistics such as
equipment needs, participant payments, and necessary financial
documentation. - Under supervision of technical officers
and technical specialists, provide technical support to FANTA program
activities, including literature reviews, document preparation, preparation
of presentations, and other technical support, as requested. - Assist in the day to day management of the
Uganda Nutrition Fellowship, ensuring that the Fellowship Operations
Manual is produced, that all recruitment, placement, and maintenance of
fellows at placements operates smoothly. This includes posting adverts,
reviewing applications, coordinating interviews, reviewing fellow work
plans, time sheets, organizing site visits, planning workshops and retreats.
Be the primary point of contact for fellows regarding any operational
issues on the fellowship. Coordinate with technical specialists to ensure
technical supervision of fellows and planning of site visits. - Act as the focal point of contact for the
Uganda activity and budget tracker - Assist with project financial reporting,
including keying in all expenses into smart sheet, collecting and maintaining
receipts and payment vouchers, scanning/photocopying hard copies of
expense reports (when necessary)
for submission to HQ - Carry out any other duties to support the
FANTA team, as requested.
Qualifications, Skills and
Experience:
Experience:
- The ideal candidate should hold a Bachelor’s
Degree in nutrition or related field - A minimum of two years of experience
- Past exposure and experience implementing
nutrition interventions in Uganda - Significant experience with the
maintenance and filing of documents, files, reports, etc. - Excellent written and oral English
(fluency in another Ugandan language a plus) - Past experience in proofreading and
editing technical nutrition documents, including national guidelines and
training materials. - Previous experience or knowledge working
with Government institutions, international organizations and USAID-funded
initiatives is highly desirable - Past exposure and experience in public
speaking, teaching or facilitating trainings. - Computer literacy skills i.e. Proficiency
in MS Office, Internet applications required
