About USAID FANTA Project:
The Food and Nutrition
Technical Assistance III Project (FANTA), managed by FHI 360 and funded by
USAID, is a 5-year cooperative agreement (2012-2017) that works to improve and
strengthen nutrition and food security policies, strategies, programs and
systems through technical support to the United States Agency for International
Development (USAID) and its partners, including host country governments,
international organizations, and nongovernmental organization implementing
partners..
Job Summary: The FHI 360
Knowledge Management Officer will be responsible for streamlining
communications efforts within the FANTA-Uganda team and developing and
strategically disseminating materials and documents about FANTA Uganda to an
external audience. The incumbent will work with the FANTA-Uganda Project
Manager and the FANTA Washington communication department to set clear KMO
vision and direction and priorities activities, execute work plans and lead the
production and dissemination of  country
wide publications and promotional materials.
Key Duties and Responsibilities: 
  • Draft
    and provide editorial support to the development of articles, blogs,
    reports, technical briefs, newsletters, and other publications.
  • Write
    communications pieces (success stories, articles, etc.) and support
    creation of project presentation
  • Research
    and identify opportunities for the project to employ new media formats and
    dissemination channels (podcasts, blogging, webcasts, etc.).
  • Actively
    coordinate project regional and national KMO events.by working with key
    stakeholders at national or regional level.
  • Support
    in the development and production of deliverables including quarterly
    reports, annual reports and other relevant deliverables
  • Actively
    collaborate with technical staff in writing and editing marketing
    materials, success stories, technical briefs, tools and reports
  • Work
    closely with the FANTA country team to ensure that knowledge and
    information is being shared in consistent and organized manner
  • Support
    the documentation and dissemination of country results via newsletters,
    success stories, quarterly reports or other reporting mechanism
Qualifications, Skills and Experience: 
  • Six
    or more years’ experience in communications, international relations,
    public health or related fields
  • At
    least three years of experience working with health and development
    programs in the area of communications and/or knowledge management,
    experience with nutrition related activities preferred and in the USAID
    context
  • Proven
    ability to develop, write, and edit technical content for both print
    publications and the web.
  • Demonstrate
    sensitivity to cultural diversity and understanding of the political,
    contextual, and ethical issues in assigned areas.
  • Excellent
    organizational skill
     Fluency in written and oral
    English, excellent written and verbal English language skills
  • Experience
    working with social media tools, such as Twitter, Face Book, google+,
    Vimeo, and YouTube
  • Past
    exposure and experience using Adobe Suite, Acrobat professional and 508
    compliance requirements
  • Possess
    the ability to work as a team member while also managing tasks
    independently.
  • Familiarity
    with on-line collaboration tools (e.g. GoToWebinar, Skype, Adobe Connect
    etc) (preferred).
  • Good
    knowledge and understanding of website design and design software such as
    In-design and Adobe Photoshop (preferred)
