- Ensuring
daily functional operation and maintenance of the ICT infrastructure. - Guiding
and directing management on ICT application issues. - Ensuring
that ICT policies are adhered to. - Preparing
specifications of ICT software and hardware to be procured. - Actively
participating in technical and management committees for ICT where never
there is need. - Strengthening
and increasing the application of ICT for the benefit of the Ministry. - Carrying
out and organizing staff development training in order to ensure optimum
use of the available ICT infrastructure. - Ensuring
the acquisition and use of appropriate technologies to support Ministry
programme needs. - Offering
technical guidelines and assistance to staff and other stakeholders on
Database matters from time to time. - Testing
potential software and advising on its application. - Monitoring
the use of internal data and voice communication facilities. Any other
duties as may be assigned from time to time.
- The
Principal Information Scientist should hold a Bachelors Degree in
Information Technology or Computer Science or Statistics or Mathematics or
Management Information System plus a minimum of a Post Graduate Diploma in
Information Science or Computer Science or closely related course from a
recognized University. Possession of a Masters Degree in Computer Science
or any other course in Information Technology related field shall be an
added advantage. - At
least six (6) years relevant working experience, three (3) of which should
have been served at the level of Senior Information Scientist/Senior
Systems Administrator in Government or equivalent level of experience from
a reputable organization.

- Application
forms should bear the title of the post followed by the Reference Number
specified against the vacancy. The appropriate Advert Title e.g. “PSC
External Advert. No. 2/2014” should be indicated in capital letters on the
top of each first page of the Public Service Form No. 3 (2008). Applicants
should attach three sets of photocopies of their certificates and
testimonials. Applicants subsequently shortlisted for oral interviews
shall be required to present certified copies and originals of their
academic transcripts and certificates at the time of sitting the Oral Interviews. - Applicants
should attach three (3) recent certified passport size photographs and
should apply for a maximum of only two (2) posts clearly indicating the
first and second choice on the application.
