About JMS:
Joint Medical Store (JMS) is a
private not-for-profit organization established by the Uganda Catholic Medical
Bureau and the Uganda Protestant Medical Bureau, and has the mandated to supply
medicines, medical equipment and related health care services and training of
assured quality to the people of Uganda at affordable prices.
Job Summary: The General
Manager is the Chief Executive Officer of JMS and provides strategic leadership
to the organization to enable it achieve its mission and strategic objectives
as outlined in the Strategic Plan. He/She reports to the Board of Directors.
The position is responsible for managing and controlling the day to day
operations of JMS with estimated annual sales revenue of UGX 40 billion and a
workforce of 70 persons. The jobholder ensures attainment of the approved
annual sales and distribution target and to diligently monitor and keep track
of all operations.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience: 
  • The
    candidate should hold a Masters degree in Business Administration (MBA) or
    its equivalent. A good bachelor’s degree in a field relevant to JMS
    operations.
  • Excellent
    public relations, interpersonal and networking skills
  • Possess
    the ability to collaboratively work with the church, public and private
    sector
  • Highly
    capable to anticipate and harness available opportunities for both short
    and long term benefits for the organization
  • Excellent
    business development skills, able to translate strategic options into
    operational activities efficiently and effectively
  • Outstanding
    leadership skills, able to promote team spirit and an organizational
    culture consistent with the Organization’s vision, mission and values
  • Excellent
    track record in managing and achieving targets in a demanding environment
  • Strong
    negotiation and influencing skills
  • Advanced
    computer literacy (MS Word, Excel, Email software, PowerPoint)
