About AFRALTI:
The African Advanced Level Telecommunications Institute (AFRALTI) based in Nairobi, Kenya, is a leading Intergovernmental Organization and an ITU Centre of Excellence which is mandated with the provisioning of Information and Communication Technology Training, Research and Consultancy in English speaking Africa.
Job Summary: The incumbent will be required to satisfy ICT sector needs for human capital development by identifying and developing engineering training interventions in the following areas:
  • ICT networks design, planning and optimization;
  • ICT network infrastructure rollouts;
  • Powering ICT network infrastructure; and 
  • Spectrum Management.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Carry out and co-ordinate the design, development and delivery of training in ICT infrastructure designing, planning and management;
  • Deliver training to the AFRALTI region;
  • Actively collaborate with the Institute’s partners to deliver a Centre of Excellence capability to the market;
  • Steer the business development teams in needs identification in the area of ICT engineering;
  • Develop strategic plans to meet with market demands in ICT training;
  • Take part in discussions on spectrum management at various international and regional fora;
  • Carry out consultancy or research assignments on behalf of the Institute;
  • Specify appropriate training equipment and training aids to meet defined training objectives;
  • Work in consultation with the Director’s Office and Business Development departments, market the Institute’ s capability to the world;
  • Prepare professional and informative articles to be posted on the Institute’s website, or published in public media or professional journals; and
  • Perform any other duties as directed by management
Key Job Functions:
  • Offer leadership in the identification of adaptable ICT technologies for Africa;
  • Develop and conduct training programmes in ICT infrastructure  planning, operations and management;
  • Demonstrate strong leadership in the management of frequency spectrum;
  • Carry out research on topical issues in ICT; and
  • Provide advisory services to stakeholders on topical issues.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience: 
  • The ideal candidate should possess a good Master’s degree in Engineering Science (Radio/Telecommunications/Electronic/Power Engineering) or related field from a recognized University or equivalent;
  • A minimum of five or more (5) years of field practical experience in GSM network rollouts;
  • Teaching/Lecturing experience would be an advantage;
  • Strong qualities of leadership and the ability to work with other people;
  • Demonstrable knowledge of use of computers/laptops;
  • National of a member state of AFRALTI;
Age: Less than fifty (50) years of age.
