About UEGCL:
Uganda Electricity Generation Company Limited (UEGCL) is a Public Limited Liability Company incorporated in March 2001 under the Companies Act, 2012 (which repealed Companies Act, Cap. 110) on the basis of the Public Enterprises Reform and Divestiture Act, Cap 98 and Electricity Act, Cap 145 respectively vide Registration Number P.428. UEGCL is wholly owned by the Government of the Republic of Uganda.
Job Summary: The Finance Manager will oversee the Company’s Finance Department; provide strategic support to Management in planning, organizing, directing and controlling the Company’s financial activities and the mobilization and management of the financial resources of the Company; take the lead responsibility for the Company’s Financial accounting and reporting requirements; to lead and coordinate the business planning, accounting and budgeting initiatives of the Company. The role will form part of the Senior Management Team and involve interaction with the Board and its relevant Committees of the Board, as and when required.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
· Responsible for comprehensive financial control framework
· Timely professional support/advice on Financial Management issues
· Ensure timely and accurate Financial Reports, Financial Statements
· Suited Capital Structure
· Responsible for managing the Financial Information Systems
· Ensure compliance with Financial related Regulatory requirements
· Finance Work plans and budgets
· In charge of the timely preparation of Company budgets
· Effective Cost Control framework
· Optimal utilization of the Company’s financial resources
· Ensure finance Department work plans and budgets are made and adhered to
· Establishment of a fully fledged Finance Department
· Financial sustainability strategy in place
· Ensure that financial and accounting policies in place
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
· The applicant should preferably hold an Honours Degree and Masters qualification in a business related field
· A Chartered Member with a Professional Accounting qualification in ACCA, CPA, CIMA etc
· A Member of the Institute of Chartered Professional Accountants of Uganda
· At least seven (7) years’ experience in handling financial management and accounting matters at Senior Management level in a similar Organization
· Sound knowledge of the Energy Sector, will be an added advantage
· Past exposure and experience in using Financial Management Systems and MS Office applications
· Prior experience of computer accounting software and an aptitude for systems improvements and development
· Past exposure and experience in developing and improving financial systems in a way is appropriate for programmes in place
· Possess a high degree of personal integrity
· Effective communication skills

· Practical experience in supporting business at a strategic level
· Good human relation skills
