indigenous civil society organizations, institutions agencies, special interest
groups and individuals in Teso sub region, working together to campaign against
corruption and human rights abuses.
Communications Officer will draw a Communications strategy the
Coordinator in managing visibility and the image of TAC with her members,
partners and the general public; He/She is responsible for undertaking a range
of communication, relationship development and promotional activities to
progress TAC’s strategic and operational objectives.
Responsibilities:
- Oversee TAC visibility and recognition
through the media, website, social media among others - Harness and maintain a robust relationship
and partnership with media fraternity - Maintain and manage an informative and
attractive TAC website - Offer editorial and quality assurance
support to programme staff to enhance readability and presentation of
documents through Power point, articles, and strategy documents - Produce materials, videos, documentaries
and support the Programme Coordinator to appropriately disseminate,
communicate, and popularize TAC achievements with a wide range of
stakeholders - Steer the conducting capacity assessments
for members across Teso sub region - Support the Programme Coordinator in the
implementation of the TAC Membership Code of - Conduct
- Ensure integration of membership
approaches in the implementation of all interventions - Assist in responding to requests and
maintaining good communication with external members, stakeholders, as
well as handling other related assignments as delegated by the Programme
Coordinator - Support TAC programme staff in organizing
external communication of TAC events - Perform any other duties assigned by the
Programme
Experience:
- The applicant should hold a degree in Mass
Communication or a related field from a recognized University. Possession
of a post graduate diploma will be an added advantage. - A minimum of three or more years
professional experience working in the field of communications, Public
relations and web site management in an NGO setting - Past exposure and experience in assessing,
documenting and communicating results of interventions - Excellent analytical, writing, editorial
and presentation skills - Possess the ability to contextualize and
summarize key messages for effective communication to different audiences; - Excellent inter personal and communication
skills and capacity to build effective professional relationships and or
networking - Good knowledge of the media landscape in
Uganda - High level of IT skills and experience
with desk top publishing and web technology - Sound knowledge of design and layout of
publications - Fluency in English with attention to
detail in grammar and use Of language; - Ability to work under pressure, with a
high level of self- motivation; - Good knowledge of current discussions and
debate in academia and elsewhere on relevant democratic
governance/accountability issues in Uganda is an advantage.
