About Malaika:
Malaika Honey Limited is an
agribusiness company that deals mainly in the production and sale of honey,
honey equipment and propolis. The company’s overall mission is to support the
eradication of poverty in rural communities through beekeeping. This is done
through farmer training and long term trade relationships.
Job Summary: The
Business Development Officer will support the social development arm of the
business, provide PR support and marketing support.
Key Duties and Responsibilities: 
1. New Business Development:
  • Prospect
    for potential new clients and turn this into increased business.
  • Meet
    potential clients by growing, maintaining, and leveraging the company’s
  • Identify
    potential clients, and the decision makers within the client organization.
  • Research
    and build relationships with new clients
  • Actively
    participate in pricing
2. Client Retention:
  • Present
    new products and services and enhance existing relationships.
  • Work
    with technical staff and other internal colleagues to meet customer needs.
  • Arrange
    and participate in internal and external client debriefs.
3. Business Development
  • Attend
    industry functions, such as association events and conferences, and
    provide feedback and information on market and creative trends.
  • Work
    closely with TUNADO and other NGOs to promote the organization’s mission.
  • Identify
    opportunities for campaigns, services, and distribution channels that will
    lead to an increase in sales and opportunity for bee farmers.
  • Using
    knowledge of the market and competitors, identify and develop the
    company’s unique selling propositions and differentiators.
4. Management and Research:
  • Compile
    and submit weekly progress reports and ensure data is accurate.
  • Work
    with marketing staff to ensure that prerequisites (like prequalification
    or getting on a vendor list) are fulfilled within a timely manner.
  • Ensure
    all team members represent the company in the best light.
5. Public Relations:
  • Represent
    the company at industry and other agri-business events
  • Work
    closely with development partners to obtain support for the farmer
    empowerment projects of the company
  • Ensure
    the company complies with all industry standards and regulations.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience: 
  • The
    applicant should hold a Bachelor’s Degree in Management or related field
  • A
    minimum of two or more years’ experience in marketing
  • Past
    exposure and experience in an agri-business company is an added advantage
  • Past
    experience in public relations work is added advantage
  • Excellent
    interpersonal and communication skills
  • Must
    be a people person
  • Proficiency
    in the use of computers
