Job Summary: The Behaviour
Change Communication Officer will be responsible for coordination of the
Inter-personal Communication (IPC) activities at the community level.
S/he will be responsible for
coordinating the execution of the BCC-IPC campaigns and interventions related
to the
Key Duties and Responsibilities: 
  • Actively
    utilize BCC IPC strategies and guidelines to implement results-oriented
    interventions.
  • Use
    communication strategies to create behavior change in the communities.
  • Work
    in liaison with local stakeholders to produce integrated BCC strategies and
    implement high quality BCC campaigns, and co-ordinate public dialogue
    forums.
  • Utilize
    community-based IEC materials, and disseminate targeted communication
    messages that increase public knowledge and raise awareness on behavior
    change.
  • Work
    with the supervisor to disseminate toolkits, materials and other resources
    to key stakeholders, and community champions, and train them on their use.
  • Champion
    the utilization of community awareness campaigns to increase awareness of
    the availability of services and location of health facilities, and
    co-ordinate community dialogue forums.
  • Oversee
    the smooth running of community chart-rooms.
  • Follow
    up regional IPC activities with community champions, monitor, and report
    on the implementation IPC activities at community level regarding progress
    towards uptake of healthy behaviours.
  • Actively
    participate in message concept testing and pre-testing of all
    communication materials that are developed.
  • Work
    closely with the Research, Monitoring, Evaluation, and Learning team to
    evaluate IPC approaches.
  • Document
    lessons learned success stories, best practices, and community mobilization
    experiences during the course of project implementation.
  • Compile
    and prepare timely periodic reports.
  • Ensure
    documentation of best practices under the project.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience: 
  • The
    ideal candidate should hold a good Bachelor’s Degree in Communication,
    Public Health, or other related degree within the Social Sciences field.
  • Possession
    of a Post Graduate training in health communication will be an added
    advantage.
  • At
    least four (4) years of progressively increasing responsibility in
    coordinating public health communication-related projects of similar scope
    in private sector and social marketing field.
  • Previous
    experience in working with community health-intervention programs is a
    must.
  • Past
    exposure and experience in private sector and NGO approaches, and
    successfully implementing social marketing and behavior change
    communication programs in diverse geographic locations.
  • Significant
    experience in designing Health Communication strategies, developing of
    training modules and communication materials, and disseminating
    information through different communication channels is an added
    advantage.
  • Demonstrable
    results in previous work environment should reinforce claims to this
    experience.
  • Working
    knowledge of and experience with USG-funded activity management, policies
    and procedures will be an added advantage.
  • Excellent
    coordination skills to ensure effective management of partnerships and
    relationships with stakeholders.
  • Excellent
    interpersonal, technical, and analytical skills including a demonstrated
    ability to interact effectively and collaboratively with and share
    information with key stakeholders as guided
  • Possess
    the ability to work in fast-paced dynamic environment with multiple
    partners.
  • Highly
    flexible and independent.
  • Excellent
    organizational, analytical, and oral and written communication skills (in
    English), and good communication, presentation, training, interpersonal,
    and team work skills.
  • Excellent
    past performance references.
