Job Summary: The BCC
Manager – Inter Personal Communication (IPC) will be responsible for the
Inter-personal Communication (IPC) activities in the project. S/he will be
responsible for strategic planning, design, implementation, coordination, and
monitor the execution of the BCC-IPC campaigns and interventions related to the
project. S/he will liaise with the key stakeholders in the development and
production of communication messages and materials. S/he will organize
stakeholders meetings with the various partners, and also work closely with the
Research, Mentoring, Evaluation, and Learning department to ensure that all IPC
interventions are informed.
Key Duties and Responsibilities: 
  • Develop
    various BCC IPC strategies and guidelines to guide the day-to-day
    implementation of results-oriented interventions.
  • Design
    communication strategies to create behavior change in the communities.
  • Actively
    co-ordinate with local stakeholders to produce integrated BCC strategies
    and implement high quality BCC campaigns, and co-ordinate public dialogue
    forums.
  • Develop
    community-based IEC materials, and disseminate targeted communication
    messages that increase public knowledge and raise awareness on behavior
    change.
  • Disseminate
    toolkits, materials and other resources to key stakeholders, and community
    champions, and train them on their use.
  • Design
    community awareness campaigns about availability of services and location
    of health facilities.
  • Actively
    co-ordinate the establishment and smooth running of community chart-rooms.
  • Follow-up
    with the BCC officers to conduct follow up of regional IPC activities
  • Create,
    implement, and measure the success of communications that will increase
    the uptake of healthy behaviours.
  • Monitor
    implementation of the IPC campaigns at community level.
  • Co-ordinate
    message concept testing and pre-testing of all communication materials
    that are developed.
  • Work
    with the Research, Monitoring, Evaluation, and Learning team to evaluate
    IPC approaches.
  • Document
    lessons learned success stories, best practices, and community
    mobilization experiences during the course of project implementation.
  • Compile
    and send timely periodic reports.
  • Ensure
    that documentation of best practices under the project is done. 
Qualifications, Skills and Experience: 
  • The
    ideal candidates for the BCC positions should hold Bachelor’s degrees or
    higher in Communication, Public Health, or other related degree within the
    Social Sciences field. Post Graduate training in health communication is
    an asset.
  • Six
    or more (6) years of progressively increasing responsibility in managing
    public health communication-related projects of similar scope in private
    sector and social marketing field.
  • Past
    exposure and experience in developing of training modules and designing
    Health Communication strategies is an asset.
  • Working
    knowledge of and experience with USG-funded activity management, policies
    and procedures will be an added advantage.
  • Prior
    experience in private sector approaches and have experience successfully
    implementing social marketing and behavior change communication programs
    in diverse geographic locations.
  • Significant
    experience in working with community health-intervention programs is a
    must.
  • Excellent
    leadership skills to ensure effective management of partnerships and
    relationships with stakeholders
  • In-depth
    program experience and an appropriate balance of technical, financial,
    administrative, managerial and interpersonal experience and oversight.
  • Demonstrated
    management skills, including relevant experience in direct supervision of
    professional staff.
  • Demonstrable
    results in previous work environment should reinforce claims to this
    experience.
  • High
    level of interpersonal, technical, and analytical skills including a
    demonstrated ability to interact effectively and collaboratively with and
    present information to a broad range of public and private sector
    counterparts, donors, implementing partners, host country institutions,
    international organizations, and other key stakeholders.
  • Possess
    the ability to work in fast-paced dynamic environment with multiple
    partners.
  • Excellent
    organizational, analytical, and oral and written communication skills (in
    English), and good communication, presentation, training, interpersonal,
    and team work skills.
  • Excellent
    past performance references.
