About IDI:
The mission of the Infectious Diseases Institute (IDI) is to build
capacity of health systems in Africa with strong emphasis on infectious
diseases through research, and capacity development. IDI has five operational
areas through which it works to achieve its mission: Prevention, Care and
Treatment; Training, Research and Laboratory services (provided through a
partnership with the Makerere University-John Hopkins University Core Lab) and
Outreach. IDI invites applications for the following full-time positions for
upcoming US government (USAID) sponsored projects for delivery of services for
HIV/AIDS and related health conditions.
Job Summary:  The USAID Chief of Party (COP) will be
responsible for all reporting to the funder and shall provide strategic
leadership and oversight to overall project implementation.
Qualifications, Skills and
Experience: 
  • The applicant should preferably hold a
    Master’s Degree or higher in Public Health, MBA, Social Sciences or an
    equivalent field
  • Eight or more years of project management
    experience in large, multi-year internationally-funded health sector
    development programs that have implemented successful activities in
    HIV/AIDS.
  • Detailed knowledge and understanding of
    the Uganda health system and health service delivery care gaps and
    opportunities; and solid relationships with government agencies.
  • In-depth knowledge of USG programs,
    regulations, compliance and reporting and in particular with experience
    with USAID funded programs.
  • Requisite qualifications include an
    appropriate balance of technical, managerial and interpersonal skills and
    experience.
  • S/he shall have a deep understanding of
    the project goals and objectives and be able to articulate the strategic
    vision for the program.
  • Significant experience in interacting with
    Uganda government agencies (including central and local government
    agencies) and civil society organizations is essential.
  • Excellent past performance references
  • Excellent organizational, analytical, and
    oral and written communication skills
