About UWEC:
Uganda Wildlife Education Centre (UWEC) formerly known as Entebbe Zoo
is an autonomous body under the Ministry of Tourism, Wildlife and Heritage. The
Uganda Wildlife Education Center is a fun and exciting place to see and learn
about the animals of Uganda and the ecosystems in which they live. Take some
time to learn how they live, eat, play, and talk.
Originally founded in the 1950s to accommodate confiscated and injured
wildlife and to look after orphan animals which have been taken away from smugglers
it has grown considerably in recent years. Many say its destined to become the
most important showcase for wildlife on the African continent.
Key Duties and
Responsibilities: 
1. Overseeing the provision of software (application/ information systems)
support services over the Centre’s ICT infrastructure and resources including:
  • Developing state-of-the-art Information
    Systems and supporting the business activities of the Centre.
  • Ensuring the continuity, maintenance and
    security of the Centre’s information, ICT infrastructure and resources.
2. Maintaining all information systems at the Centre including:
  • Developing an application maintenance
    schedule; managing efficient implementation of backup, virus protection
    and security procedures, including data protection policies.
  • Running daily and/or periodic system and
    data up-dates, and submitting status reports to the
  • F&A Manager or other appropriate
    Centre managers.
  • Responsible for implementing and
    monitoring all software based information security controls, policy,
    procedures and standards.
3. Supporting Centre end-users in using computer applications
including:-
  • Intuitively trouble-shooting to correct
    user computer problems.
  • Providing hands-on support to end-users in
    computer applications.
Qualifications, Skills and
Experience: 
  • The Systems Administrator should hold a
    good Diploma in IT or computer science.
  • Additional professional qualifications in
    either Networking or Systems Administration.
  • At least three years’ experience in IT
    with a reputable Organization.
