expanded its services to include an SMS platform. Uganda has dramatically
changed in the last 10 years’ simply because cell phones became available and
affordable. Today you rarely meet
someone in the city that does not have one. Cell phones have also meant some
innovations many that are SMS based. This is very revolutionary because many
people in Uganda do not own smart phones, although the number of people with
smart phones is also increasing especially in the towns.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Build and improve tools for working with
carriers and aggregators for inbound and outbound messaging for Mullegow
Digital Technologies . - Intuitively investigate and resolve
messaging issues such as delivery problems, encoding issues, and
production issues. - Enhance existing internal tools, scripts
and processes, using languages such as PHP Java or Python. - Work with our engineering team and
production infrastructure to keep our messaging systems running smoothly.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- The applicant should hold a bachelor’s degree
in Computer Science or related engineering field, or equivalent practical
experience, relevant systems administration experience. - Solid scripting experience e.g., Python,
or programming experience. - Past exposure and experience working with
carriers and/or aggregators for messaging interoperability. - Familiarity with text messaging
technologies such as SMS, MMS, SMPP. - Systems Administrators embrace Mullegow’s
motto to ensure millions of users can access the world’s information
without a glitch. - As a Systems Administrator at Mullegow,
you own and support the needs of one of Mullegow’s server infrastructure
systems. - You’re highly technical and work directly
with other server and service owners to ensure reliability and
sustainability of the Mullegow service infrastructure as well as
compliance with internal policies. - Success in this role means you are able to
support servers in a mixed operating system environment and work
efficiently with our internal technology providers as well as other
operations groups. - We rely on your guidance when it comes to
design decisions so you’ll have a direct impact in keeping the business
productive.
