About CMA:
The Capital Markets Authority (CMA) was established by the Capital
Markets Authority Act Chapter 84 Laws of Uganda as a semi autonomous body
responsible for the promotion, development and regulation of the capital
markets industry in Uganda.
Job Summary: The Information
Technology Officer will plan, develop, implement and maintain an efficient IT
system, ensuring security of IT infrastructure (hardware and software) and
provide user support to CMA staff.
Key Duties and
Responsibilities: 
  • Plan, coordinate, and implement IT-related
    activities of the organization, as well as provide administrative
    direction and support for operational activities of the IT Unit;
  • Offer IT Advisory services with regard to
    strategic direction of key ICT resources, systems and services in support
    of CMA’s strategic plan;
  • Develop, procure, implement, monitor and
    maintain cost-effective technology solutions for all aspects of the
    organization and support the development of computer infrastructure in
    line with organizational standards, procedures and policies;
  • Develop, implement, maintain and audit
    systems security infrastructure as well as network management and
    monitoring; including regular backups and recovery plans of all
    organization information to ensure secure Network, Systems and Data;
  • Maintain up-to-date and accurate inventory
    of IT hardware, software, and documentation;
  • Maintain and update the software and
    hardware, including the website and intranet;
  • Prepare and implement the ICT budget;
  • Monitor and control licenses, contractual
    obligations, performance delivery and service level agreements; and
  • Perform any other related duties that may
    be assigned from time to – time.
Qualifications, Skills and
Experience: 
  • The Information Technology Officer should
    hold a relevant Bachelor’s degree from a recognized University/institution
    (e.g. Information Technology, Computer Science / Engineering, Statistics,
    Mathematics, Physics etc.). A post-graduate qualification in a relevant
    field will be an added advantage 
  • A minimum of  five years’ experience in IT support,
    planning and implementing IT solutions and strategies in a reputable
    corporate organization.
  • The applicant must be highly proficient
    and possess knowledge and experience in computer hardware and software
    systems and programs, computer networks, network administration and
    network installation, computer troubleshooting, computer viruses and
    security, and email and other internet programs.
  • Possess Microsoft Certified IT
    Professional (MCITP)
  • Possession of other professional and
    vendor ICT qualifications such as Prince2, Cisco Certified Network
    Associate (CCNA) and a working knowledge of Linux/ Unix
  • High level of integrity &
    professionalism
  • Well organized, detail oriented, efficient
    and able to work with little or no supervision under tight deadlines.
  • Excellent analytical and problem solving
    skills as well as Decision making skills
  • Effective verbal, presentation and written
    skills
