About aBi:
The Agricultural Business Initiative (aBi) Trust is supporting agribusiness development in the private sector to achieve the objective of the Government of Uganda’s Competitiveness and Investment Climate Strategy (CICS). The Trust is a multi-donor entity jointly founded by the Governments of Denmark and Uganda. The mandate of aBi Trust is to support the private sector actors to increase their contribution to the agricultural sector by increasing land and labour productivity, and market competitiveness thereby contributing to poverty reduction through economic growth, wealth, and employment creation.
The aBi Trust strengthens competitiveness of the Agricultural and Agro-processing sectors through three (3) interrelated components: Value Chain Development (VCD) including trade-related Sanitary and Phyto-Sanitary and Quality Management Systems (SPS/QMS), Financial Services Development (FSD) and a cross cutting Gender for Growth (G4G) Fund.
Job Summary: The aBi Trust Finance Officer (FO) will support the Finance function of aBi Trust in providing the technical input in accounting and financial management and also offer technical support in ensuring that grantees are using funds for the purpose intended.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Offer input in consolidating % accounts and preparing financial reports on a monthly basis.
- Actively participate in the capturing of information into the financial reporting system.
- Maintain an up to date Fixed Assets register of all aBi Trust assets.
- Participate in the review process of ensuring value for money for the grants disbursed to implementing partners.
- Offer first line support to the aBi Trust Implementing Partners in regards to training on financial aspects of their projects.
- Prepare performance reports on various partners in respect of budget, actual and outstanding commitments.
- Assist with the external and internal audit exercises.
- Carry out any other functions and duties that may be delegated to the position from time to time.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- The applicant must ideally hold a good bachelor’s degree in commerce, business administration, business studies or related areas.
- Full professional qualification in ACCA or CPA
- At least four years’ experience in finance work and accounting and or auditing.
- Past experience and exposure in Grants management in donor funded projects is an added advantage.
- Detailed knowledge and understanding of Financial Reporting Standards.
- Understanding of accounting for donor funds.
- Understanding of Risk management practices.
- High level of integrity
- Must be keen on detail.
- Excellent report writing skills.
- Excellent communications and presentation skills
- Execute duties within the set timelines
