Finance, HR and Administration Manager
NGO that envisions a world in which small scale farmers claim their rights to

VECO East Africa seeks to contribute to viable livelihoods and empowerment of
organised small scale farmers through improved income from sustainable
agriculture. VECO facilitates sustainable Agricultural Chain Development with
small scale farmers and private sector in East Africa. We support small scale
farmers in their ambitions to feed a growing world population.
Accountant will be responsible for the;
- Update
of accounts of Mbale office on a monthly basis and translate them into
quarterly reports for the use of management. - Give
financial information regarding the regional programme that is in
accordance with the regulations and standards set by the HO Financial Desk - Deliver
appropriate and effective administrative support to regional office - Give
finance and administrative support to field antennas
- Carry
out the daily bookkeeping tasks and the monthly integration of the
financial information from the Partners. - Monitor
the use of the resources in the Mbale office and in the partners reporting - Implement
the required reporting systems for the regional office, antenna program,
for Head Office, External audit and for donors. - Gather
financial data, check upon conformity with ruling regulations and quality
standards - Offer
timely financial information to the Regional finance and HR manager, for
reporting and budgeting - Coordinate
daily bookkeeping tasks and the monthly antennas to the Regional Office. - Treasury:
banking, financial and cash flow management and budgeting, in line with
local and Head Office requirements - Provide
financial and administrative support. - Assist
in the HR function of the Mbale office
- Supervise
the implementation of the appropriate ICT and administration systems. - Promote
initiatives of best practice sharing across partner organizations and
within the organisation.
- The
candidate must be a fully certificated accountant or equivalent by
experience - A
minimum of two years’ experience in bookkeeping - Prior
NGO experience or experience in an international environment is a plus. - Past
experience living and working in East Africa. - Comprehensive
knowledge of analytical bookkeeping - Good
working knowledge of relevant PC software. - Knowledge
of Navision is an asset - Know
the accounting requirements and specific reporting requirements for the
countries involved. - Highly
proficient in treasury and budgeting methods and systems. - Good
working knowledge of accounting software and general ICT knowledge - The
applicant should also possess the
ability to identify and elaborate the key elements in regional financial
and HR policies in line with VECO policies and with local legislation and
practices. - Possess
a good view on the major issues in the local labour legislation and knows
where to find other relevant information. - Ability
to work autonomously with a minimum of supervision. - Highly
reliable and accurate - Well
organised, efficient and respects deadlines - Listens
actively - Is
willing to co-operate with various actors and communicates clearly in a
variety of settings and styles. - Can
get messages across that have the desired effect.
