Electrification Agency (REA)

Electrification Board (REB) as established by Statutory instrument 2001 No. 75.
The REB’s main function is to oversee the management of the Rural
Electrification Fund (REF) and facilitate the development and implementation of
rural electrification projects under several sources of funding (i.e.
Government of Uganda, World Bank under Energy for Rural Transformation, (ERT)
project, SIDA, JICA. NORAD. BADEA, SFD, etc.)
will offer technical support by ensuring that electricity makes a positive and significant
contribution to the transformation of the rural communities.
Responsibilities:
- Work closely with the Rural Outreach Unit,
support coordination of the marketing of electricity services and outreach
in rural areas to ensure uptake and productive use of electricity: - Assist in the development and promotion of
consumer finance assistance initiatives that enable access to investment
finance for end use; - Support coordination of initiatives for
consumer connections and ensure that targeted connections are being achieved
both on-grid and off-grid - In close collaboration with the STM
officers, monitor electricity connections (both on-grid and off-grid) - Assist the Manager, ERT in coordinating
the World Bank Project activities and rural transformation activities. - Compilation and preparation of project
progress quarterly and annual reports. - Preparation of project work plans and
budgets and procurement plans. - Support project monitoring and prepare
project monitoring reports - Actively participate in data collection
for input into work plans and procurement reviews, progress briefs and
other reports; - Organize logistics for conferences,
meetings, Supervision Missions and workshops. - Perform any other tasks as directed by the
Manager
Experience:
- The candidate should hold a Bachelor’s
Degree (Honors) in Economics or Business Administration and Master’s Degree
in a related field from a recognized University - A minimum of five or more years’
demonstrated work experience in rural development projects with at least 3
years’ experience in rural consumer financing initiatives and promotion of
uptake of rural development projects, - Demonstrated knowledge of promotion of
productive use of energy, - Good knowledge of computer applications
- Excellent communication and writing
skills.
