Africa to bring about positive change through the provision of quality
education, clean water, health promotion and other community based projects.
Responsibilities:
- Actively contribute to planning and
guiding the implementation of the various stages of programme
implementation and follow-up to ensure project is on track to achieve
intended goals. - Work closely with Finance department to
manage programme logistics and materials and work with other staff to
secure appropriate funding. - Steer the development and distribution of
all training materials/ guides to deliver training in schools – to the
children, teachers and community members as an ongoing capacity building
strategy. - Actively research best practice in WASH
and health promotion and make recommendations to senior management on new
areas to incorporate into the WASH programme. - Contribute to project proposal development
by offering technical oversight that incorporates required course of
action for the WASH programme moving forward. - To identify and liaise with school
Directors, Head teachers, relevant Local government officials (e.g.
District Water Officers) and partners to ensure the successful roll out of
the WASH programme to all FOL supported schools and communities. - Continuously track relevant project
information and share timely reports on progress and lessons learnt/best
practices identified with the Monitoring, Evaluation & WASH
Coordinator, Head of Operations and Donors. - Take lead in the mobilisation and
sensitisation of communities where safe water sources have been provided
on WASH practices
Experience:
- The applicant should also hold a Diploma
in Environmental Health Science, Public Health, Water and Sanitation
supply management or any other relevant discipline. - The candidate should possess three or more
years work experience in a development setting (preferably an
international NGO) in Water, Sanitation and Hygiene program design,
implementation, M&E, research and policy, and strategy development. - Past exposure and experience of working
with local partners and District Local Government in Health, Nutrition,
Education, HIV/AIDS or Child Protection is an added advantage - Be highly knowledgeable about WASH sector
policies and guidelines in Uganda, WASH participatory methodologies like
PHAST, CLTS, Sanitation Marketing, Behaviour Change Communication and
other related innovative hygiene and sanitation approaches that are
necessary for the promotion of hygiene and sanitation interventions. - Excellent written & oral English
skills and analytical skills - Strong project management skills and
strategic planning abilities. - Highly organized and detail oriented, with
an ability to multi-task. - Willingness to travel regularly to project
locations across East - Africa and work in hard-to-reach areas,
occasionally under strenuous conditions. - Computer literacy skills and excellent
documentation skills are a must - The applicant must also be a mature and
committed Christian, able to stand above denominational diversities. - Skills in resource mobilisation including
proposal writing, report writing and networking.
