Key Duties and
Responsibilities: 
  • Develop and implement environmental and
    social strategies to ensure sustainable development and minimize the
    impact of oil operations on physical and human environment.
  • Responsible for planning for activities of
    waste management projects and be involved in appraising of community
    projects, review of feasibility studies and preparation of bills of
    quantities.
  • Responsible and answerable for all
    activities undertaken in the transportation of waste from the clients site
    to the dumping site.
  • Make frequent visits to the areas of
    operation and ensure storage and treatment of waste.
  • Maintain the hazardous waste tracking
    system for future decision making
  • Work closely with the Fleet Manger to
    ensure that vehicles that transport waste are readily available when
    required
  • Ensure that any machinery, equipment or
    vehicles used in the department are maintained correctly and meet agreed
    health and safety standards.
  • Ensure records of all maintenance,
    statutory and insurance inspections that pertain to waste are well kept.
  • Ensure all copies of training records are
    kept safely.
  • Ensure training and awareness programs are
    developed and implemented with regard to waste management activities
  • Comply with operational and legal
    requirements with regard to Health and Safety.
  • Implementation of programs to address
    recommendations from consultants or clients, monitoring reports and
    audits.
  • Carry out internal audits and follow up on
    corrective action
  • Actively participate in external audits
    where necessary.
  • Develop and maintain a compliance system
    with respect to site permits and legislation
Qualifications, Skills and
Experience: 
  • The applicant should hold an Engineering
    Degree from a recognised university with a minimum of 3 years experience
    in waste Management
  • Past experience in hazardous waste
    Management is an added advantage.
  • Certification in Waste Management by a
    recognised institution is an added advantage.
  • Detailed knowledge of legislations and
    codes of practice for environmental and social investment matters.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Good public relations skills
  • Computer Knowledge
