brings American volunteer development workers to assist Uganda in capacity
building and technical assistance activities in Health, Education and Community
Economic Development. There are about 160 Volunteers assigned to non-government
organizations, government entities, clinics, colleges and schools. Peace Corps
also aims to build cultural understanding between Americans and Ugandans.
will be to keep office complex clean, inside and out; and will observe good
hygiene and keep kitchen area clean at all times. The contractor will prepare
an approved work schedule indicating how cleaning will be carried out. on a
day-to-day basis, the contractor’s work will be supervised by the General
Services Officer.
- Sweep floors daily and mop as necessary
- Dust and clean surfaces, desks, cabinets,
tables, phones, all wooden fixtures, computers, printers and photocopy
machines. - Clean windows, computer monitors, copy
machines and mirrors - Empty trash cans
- Keep kitchen area clean at all times.
Prepare water for tea/coffee and for drinking. Wash dishes and containers,
keep dish towels clean. Use disinfectant for cleaning in kitchen and other
appropriate areas. - Clean toilets daily
- Assist with errands within and outside of
the office as needed - Keep compound neat and clean. Weed flower
gardens, prune flowers and shrubs as necessary. Mow the grass/lawn - Help in movement and relocation of
materials within the office as needed. - Identify necessary repairs to premises,
broken windows, stopped -up drains, leaking plumbing and carry out minor
repairs when necessary. - Close all windows securely at the end of
the work day - Alert supervisor when relevant office
supplies are out of stock. Help determine the quantity and type of
supplies to be procured and assist to procure when requested. - Maintain inventory records of items in
store rooms. Record signatures of individuals taking items from store
rooms. - Perform any other duties as assigned by
the Supervisor and or the DMO.
Experience:
- The applicant must have completed elementary
school. - Five or more years’ experience of
progressively responsible services as a janitor. Cleaning in and around US
Government facilities will be an Added Advantage - Specific US Government rules on safe use
of chemical and equipment is required - Proper use of cleaning materials, tools
and detergents. Names and types of unsafe cleaning materials is required - Possess the ability to maintain offices
clean, neat and safe. - Ability to work independently.
