partners.
Job Summary: The Project
Coordinator will work closely with departmental heads and activity focal
persons at the Ministry of Health as well as grantees supported by Amref Health
Africa. The job holder will maintain partner relations while maximizing efforts
to meet the programs objectives. The job holder will coordinate and support
organizations as well as the Ministry of Health in Uganda to undertake
activities as stipulated in work plans for activities aimed at enhancing access
to lifesaving commodities for women and children in Uganda. These activities
are funded by the UN Commission on Live Saving Commodities through the United
Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) and implemented by Amref Health Africa.
Key Duties and
Responsibilities: 
  • The incumbent will coordinate the Annual
    work plans of several implementing partners working towards the
    realization of the same or different outputs under the program component.
  • Actively monitor and assess progress in
    implementing activities & expenditures of each Implementing Partner
    towards achieving results.
  • Compile and prepare the quarterly and
    annual component progress reports
  • Organize component level meetings with the
    implementing partners.
  • The job holder will assess contributions
    of the component in achieving outcome(s) and report in the SPR.
  • Provide Child Protection input in the
    context of the UNDAF annual review.
  • Ensure that grantee activities are in line
    with the objectives of the grant and the action plans, build, maintain and
    sustain relationships with partners and MOH delivering a high level of
    interaction and analysis.
  • Work closely with administration and other
    support departments the job holder will facilitate the expedition support
    processes to grantees as well as reporting processes to UNFPA.
  • The job holder will organize meetings
    between Amref, Grantees and UNFPA, takes minutes and follows up on agreed
    actions and will communicate to Amref management timely on the issues of
    concern of the grantee.
  • Coordinate the project, evaluate the needs
    and the situation, draw up the project and plans its activities in
    collaboration with senior team, provide monitoring and follow ups.
Qualifications, Skills and
Experience: 
  • The prospective UNFPA AMREF jobholder
    should possess a Master’s degree or a degree in Project planning,
    administration, social sciences, medical sciences, public health, or
    related field from a recognized university.
  • A minimum of three to five years’
    experience in MNCH and proven interest in and understanding of maternal
    and child health.
  • Three or more years’ experience in a
    similar position least 2 in a managerial position.
  • Demonstrated and valued experience in
    project management, budget control and project cycles.
  • Possess the ability to relate with
    partners and other NGO counterparts.
  • Good leadership skills and ability to
    conduct high level meetings and discussions.
  • Capacity to work highly independently.
  • Ability to communicate clearly both orally
    and in writing in English.
  • Computer literacy skills i.e. proficiency
    in the use of Microsoft office and other packages.
  • Demonstrated communication, reporting and
    organizational skills.
  • Flexibility and ability to work with
    strict deadlines and ever changing operational priorities.
