About UDBL:
Uganda Development Bank Ltd (UDBL) is the country’s only Development
Finance Institution (DFI) established in 1972. The Bank has recently
re-positioned itself as a partner to the Government of Uganda in delivering the
theme of its National Development Plan.
Job Summary: The Law Clerk shall be responsible for
ensuring that all the clerical and administrative functions of the department
are executed, including custody of documents and securities, registration and
filing.
Key Duties and
Responsibilities: 
  • Monitoring the registration process of all
    securities and other legal documents prepared in connection with the loan
    documentation process.
  • Responsible for registration of all
    documents required by law to be filed by the Bank.
  • Preparation of the securities registers.
  • Filing of the registered documents.
  • Filing and maintaining a register of
    Agreements entered into by the Bank and external service providers.
  • Delivery of all legal related
    correspondences to law firms, courts of law or any other office.
  • Ensure that all records of the Legal
    department are properly filed.
  • Maintains case costs by verifying
    outstanding balances with external lawyers and monitoring them on the
    litigation tracker.
  • Maintain and update a tracker of cases in
    the courts of law and monitor the progress with the external lawyers.
  • Monitors the expenditures of the
    department and the performance against the budget.
Qualifications, Skills and
Experience: 
  • The applicant must have completed secondary
    education; Hold a Diploma in Law from Law Development Centre and Computer
    knowledge.
  • At least five years administrative
    experience in a law firm or a legal department; experience in a financial
    institution would be added advantage.
  • Highly proactive, results focused, with
    ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Proven ability in dealing with internal
    and external clients; ability to prioritize and multi-task a large work load;
  • Keen attention to detail and commitment to
    deadlines.
  • Must have a demonstrated positive and
    proactive approach and be prepared to be flexible in the work performed;
  • Excellent track record of good attendance
    and on the job performance and demonstrate ability to follow directions,
    and demonstrate honesty, integrity and confidentiality.
