opened in August 1912. We had 11 branches up to 1972 and retained only one
branch during the turbulence of the 70s. In 1998 we acquired 4 branches of
former Cooperative Bank in November 1999. Standard Chartered Bank Uganda today
has a network of 11 branches in Kampala, Jinja, Mbale, Mbarara and Gulu.
Standard Chartered Bank Uganda has 29 ATMs and over 600 staff.
Key Duties and
Responsibilities: 
The Human Resource
Business Partner, Retail Clients will;
  • Offer relationship management support for
    defined stakeholders.
  • Oversee the consistent and aligned
    delivery of HR policy, standards, guidelines and processes within area of
    focus.
  • Provide local insight to Global &
    Regional segment / product people management on execution progress and
    risks
  • Offer segment / product insight to
    Regional HRBP and/or Country Head of HR.
  • Steer the selection, recruitment and
    onboarding decisions at B4 and below for areas of focus within authorities
    and as part of standard process.
  • Manage specific ER and HR operation risks
    in the area of focus.
  • Implement the agreed talent strategy for
    key product or segment areas.
  • Offer expert advice and coaching to local
    leaders and build line manager’s capabilities
  • Oversee specific HR project which
    contribute to the global segment or product people agenda.
Qualifications, Skills and
Experience: 
  • Past experience of being an HR Business
    Partner at a country level with a multi-national organisation
  • Good knowledge and understanding of
    portfolio including key products, key roles, operating model and strategic
    agenda
  • Possess the ability to understand
    financials (e.g. interpreting financial statements, budgeting, project
    accounting)
  • Ability to implement a Strategic People
    Agenda
  • Good knowledge and understanding of the
    various HR products and how to implement them within a country/region
    (e.g. engagement, performance management) to address business issues
  • Understanding and practical experience of
    managing Employee Relations activities e.g., managing redundancies,
    grievances & disciplinary process and external litigation.
  • Uses knowledge, communication and
    relationship skills to positively influence key business decisions;
  • Forms effective relationships with key
    stakeholders
  • Possess the ability to stand up for what
    is right, in the face of adversity
  • Excellent communication: clear oral and
    written skills; effective questioning and active listening
  • Strong facilitation and coaching skills.
  • Strong work orientation, taking ownership
    to deliver on time every time
