Secretary/Registrar
established by the National Drug Policy and Authority Act Cap 206 , Laws of
Uganda (2000 Edition) to regulate Human and Veterinary Medicines and other
healthcare products. NDA’s mandate is to ensure quality, safety and efficacy of
human and veterinary medicines and other healthcare products through the
regulation and control of their production, importation, distribution and use.
Information Technology Officer will support the development, maintenance and
ensure an efficient IT system, security of IT infrastructure (hardware and
software) and provide user support to NDA staff.
Responsibilities:
- Actively plan, coordinate, direct, and
design IT-related activities of the organization, as well as provide
administrative direction and support for daily operational activities of
the IT Unit - Continuously improve and update the
software, organization’s Web site and Intranet. - Develop, procure, implement, monitor and
maintain cost-effective technology solutions for all aspects of the
organization and support the development of computer infrastructure in
line with organizational standards, procedures and policies. - Ensure quality, efficiency and effective
supply and maintenance of IT equipment. - Develop, deploy and maintain appropriate
IT Infrastructure security systems and connectivity solutions for both
head office and regional offices. - Develop, deploy and maintain appropriate
security systems; including regular backups of all organization
information; installation of anti-virus software, to ensure secure
Network, Systems and Data - Oversee routine maintenance and servicing
of all organization server, computers and accessories to ensure that they
are properly functioning at all times. - Responsible for managing network
operations to include: troubleshooting connectivity problems; installing
& maintaining routers; adding/terminating users; assigning rights and
access; resetting passwords; establishing e-mail addresses; assessing and
reporting operational status to mitigate interruptions in operations. - Maintain up-to-date and accurate inventory
of IT hardware, software, documents and certificates such as product
registration, maintenance agreements and other related resources. - Prepare and manage the NDA IT budget
- Design database management using relevant
packages - Advise management on IT matters
- Ensure that the IT policies and strategic
plans are implemented. - Stay abreast with current trends in
information Technology - Perform any other duties assigned by the
supervisor from time to time
Experience:
- The applicant for the above IT Job vacancy
should hold a Master’s degree in Computer Science or Information
Technology or equivalent, from a recognized Institution. - Professional MSCE &CCNA certification
- At least eight years’ experience in
information technology management in a reputable organization three (3)
years of which must have involved supervisory responsibility - Past experience in LAN&WAN, programming,
hardware and software installation, systems administration, maintenance
and support - Excellent track record and experience in
computer systems technical support including desktop PC equipment and
associated information technology peripherals, networking equipment and
servers - Practical experience in CISCO VoIP,
routers and switches and; video conferencing facilities - Demonstrable experience setting
performance targets, monitoring and appraising employee performance - High level integrity and self confidence
- Excellent problem analysis and solving
skills - Effective communication and interpersonal
skills
