About ICPAU:
The Institute of Certified Public Accountants of Uganda (ICPAU) was
establishment after The Accountants Statute No. 12, now the Accountants Act,
Cap. 266 of the Laws of Uganda, 2000, was enacted in August 1992. ICPAU is the
national professional accountancy body in Uganda, established by an act of
Parliament. The Accountants Act, 2013 gives the Institute a legal mandate to:
  • Regulate and maintain the Standard of
    Accountancy in Uganda.
  • Prescribe and regulate the conduct of
    accountants and practicing accountants in Uganda.
  • This includes conducting professional
    accountancy examinations in Uganda.
Job Summary: The ICPAU Public
Relations Officer will be responsible for promoting the image of the Institute.
Key Duties and
Responsibilities: 
  • Develop and implement PR programmes and
    strategies for the Institute.
  • Develop and produce publications such as
    the magazine and promotional materials.
  • Attending to enquires.
  • Write and edit speeches and press
    releases.
  • Develop good working relationships with
    the media.
  • Enhance and maintain the image and
    reputation of the Institute
  • Establish relations with policy makers and
    stakeholders.
  • Prepare information for the Institute’s
    website.
  • Assist in the management of events /
    functions.
  • Perform research as a way of ascertaining
    public opinion, and understanding public attitudes towards the Institute,
    profession and members.
  • Perform any other duties as may be
    assigned. 
Qualifications, Skills and
Experience: 
  • The applicant should hold a Bachelor’s
    degree in journalism, marketing, literature or English. 
  • A relevant postgraduate qualification is
    an added advantage.
  • A minimum of two years’ relevant working
    experience
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Good resilience;
  • Excellent interpersonal skills;
  • Good negotiation skills;
  • Excellent analytical and problem solving
    skills;
  • Be a team player;
  • Possess advanced computer skills.
