About NMS:
National Medical Stores is an autonomous Corporation that was established by an Act of Parliament 1993. Our mandate is to procure, store and distribute medicines and other medical supplies to public health facilities in Uganda.
Job Summary: The Procurement Assistant (Pharmaceuticals) will mainly be responsible for carrying out procurement duties including bidding preparations and bid Valuations
Key Duties and Responsibilities: 
  • Prepare standard bidding documents and PPDA submission forms for procurements for review and approval.
  • Prepare notifications of award and contract managers in tracking delivery schedules of supplies, works, and services in order to enforce compliance with contract terms.
  • Maintain and update the prequalified suppliers’ database to be used in selecting possible suppliers of works, services and goods.
  • Issue bids and support bid opening meetings
  • The jobholder will be required to attend and give advice during bid evaluation meetings
  • Provide regular procurement and supply chain information required to be used during procurement process.
  • Provide procurement reference numbers and keep all necessary documents on the procurement files
  • Works in liaison with contract managers in tracking delivery schedules of supplies, works and services in order to enforce compliance with contract terms
  • Carry out any other duties assigned from time to time
Qualifications, Skills and Experience: 
  • The applicant must hold a Diploma in Pharmacy
  • At least three years’ experience in procurement from a reputable organization
  • Computer literacy skills
