Job Summary: The Finance
Manager will be overseeing the Finance and Accounting aspects of the business.
Overseeing that the business so as to promote profitability and that at all
times the state of the business situation can be clearly defined and supported
by finance figures.
Key Duties and
Responsibilities: 
 
  • Offer technical advice on the commercial
    aspects and financial implications of business strategies being made by
    the territory management.
  • Responsible for the implementation of
    commercial and accounting policies and revising them appropriately.
  • In charge of preparation of timely and
    accurate Management and Financial information and accounts.
  • Responsible for the preparation of annual
    operating plans and budgets.
  • Monitoring business performance against
    agreed plans/budgets, identification of areas of inadequate performance
    and where appropriate agreeing remedial action on revised plans and
    objectives with those concerned.
  • Ensuring that internal controls are
    adequate for the needs of the business and to obtain a clean internal and
    external audit for the company each year.
  • Safeguard company assets wherever located.
  • Ensure the credit terms of the business
    are adhered to.
  • Cash management involving negotiation and
    efficient utilization of bank facilities and monitoring operational cash
    flows.
  • Controlling matters affecting banking,
    finance and exchange control.
  • Ensure efficient operations of the
    accounting system.
  • Risk Management and all insurance matters.
  • Advise on likely effects of any new
    legislation on commercial aspects of business and ensure compliance.
  • Financial Performance and Key Performance
    Indicator results are periodically discussed with the finance employees
    and sales teams, to improve performance output.
  • Ensure a safe working environment by
    regularly auditing and enforcing health and safety standards for the
    finance department
  • Ensuring good staffing levels throughout
    the department, managing labour issues with assistance from HR dept as
    required
  • First line handling of grievances
    affecting departmental employees, continually monitor and provide guidance
    where necessary
  • Identifying training and development needs
    of finance staff and ensuring training is done in conjunction with HR
    dept.
  • Develop, review and implement standard
    operating procedures for the finance department in line with business and
    government standards and various audit organization on best practices
Qualifications, Skills and
Experience: 
  • The candidate should hold a University
    degree either in Business, Finance or Accounting from a reputable
    university
  • Certified Accountant CPA (U) or ACCA with
    certifications 
  • Proficiency in a computerized environment
    with ability to use specialized accounting systems
  • Expert user of computer especially
    Microsoft office applications
  • The applicant should have a strong
    understanding of financial management, accounting , auditing processes and
    commercial awareness
  • Possess excellent written and verbal
    communication skills
  • Possess the ability to establish and
    maintain excellent, mutually beneficial working relationships with
    employees and other departments, to ensure continued commercial benefit
    for the company.
  • Independent thinker with the highest level
    of integrity
  • Proven administrative and interpersonal
    skills familiar with and able to advance formalized systems of work.
  • Be a strong team player with proven people
    management skills
  • Proven administrative, leadership and
    interpersonal skills with ability to impart knowledge and skills to a
    multi-disciplinary team
