Royal University
Secretary
Institute (Uganda Technical College, Masaka), was transferred from the
Government of Uganda to the Buganda Government, in January 2007. The University
is named after Kabaka Muteesa I Mukaabya Walugembe Kayiira. He made agreements
with the British to introduce British-based education in his kingdom (Buganda)
in the late 19th century. Muteesa I Royal University received Tertiary
Education Institution accreditation from the Ministry of Education & Sports
in July 2007. The university admitted the first class of students in October
2007. The university held its first graduation ceremony on Friday 15 April
2011. At the same ceremony, His Majesty Ronald Edward Frederick Kimera Muwenda
Mutebi II was installed as the first Chancellor of the university.

The Estates Manager shall perform the following duties:
- Overseeing the management and planning of
the Estates Department of the University including providing information
on the planning of the estates department and overseeing the maintenance
of University buildings, compounds, farms and hygiene; - Spearheading the University’s property and
assets including managing and maintaining the University’s property
register, and ensuring security of property and personnel at campus; - Taking measures to ensure the effective
and efficient maintenance of the University’s physical environment
including ensuring that the University’s sanitation and hygiene is
habitable, ensuring the proper maintenance of the University’s physical
appearance such as a clean compound and classrooms, and supervising staff
under his or her jurisdiction; - Offering professional advice and guidance
to departments, committees and other offices on estates matters including
drafting and spearheading implementation of the University’s annual
estates strategy, and setting out the priorities for the management of the
estate in the long-term; - Pro-actively plan and prepare for the
future development of the estate so as to meet priority needs within the
sustainable environment of the University. - Assessing the needs for new buildings and
repair of existing ones and manage the design, construction and
cost-control of procurement of the University authorized projects with
vision and effectiveness. - Servicing and maintaining the existing
estate and managing its properties, to achieve a high standard compatible
with the available resources.
Experience:
- The applicant should possess a Bachelors
Degree in Civil Engineering or its equivalent. - A Masters Degree in Civil Engineering or
its equivalent shall be an added advantage. - The applicant should be a registered
member with Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyors, or The Surveyors
Registration Board or The Architects Registration Board, and any other
related body. - At least our (4) years relevant experience
two (2) of which should be at senior management level in a reputable
organization. - The applicant must have demonstrable
management and planning skills in quantitative surveying, estimation and
costing for buildings, Building maintenance, Carpentry and joinery works
etc. - Exhibit the ability and willingness to
travel frequently and also work with minimum supervision - Working knowledge in Auto Card and
Microsoft Project software - Effective communication skills
- High level of integrity
- Effective interpersonal skills
- Problem solving skills
