Job Summary: The Debt Collector will be responsible for reaching out to customers to collect payment for overdue bills or other payments and acts as the liaison between creditors and customers and manages overdue accounts.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Collect payments on past due bills.
- Create a list of people who have not made payments.
- Organize list according to severity of delinquency.
- Locate customers using credit bureau information, background checks and other paperwork or databases.
- Call customers using telephone.
- Utilize computer systems to handle skip tracing.
- Inform clients of overdue accounts and amount currently owed.
- Attempt to collect payment.
- Ensure all customer information is correct, including phone numbers and addresses.
- Listen to customer’s story and determine if debt can be collected.
- Set up repayment plans and new terms of sale.
- Print reports for management.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- The candidate should hold a Diploma/ Degree Business Administration or Accounting
- One to two years’ experience in similar capacity
- Possess the ability to work under pressure
- Ability to meet deadlines
- Keen attention to detail, accuracy and proper documentation in Accounting.
- Good customer negotiation skills
- Confidentiality and high integrity
- Ability to work with minimum supervision
- Excellent communication skills at all levels, both internally and externally
- Good business acumen& time management to meet deadlines
