About KBUC:
Kisubi Brothers University College (KBUC) is part of Uganda Martyrs’ University and it’s owned by Ugandan Province of Brothers, a Christian Institution. The institution of higher learning strives to instill in its learners such knowledge, skills and attitudes which are prudent and crucial in holistic development as well as transformation of communities.
Job Summary: The Communications Officer should build and enhance the visibility of the University College to the public.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
· Provide the public with information about the University College’s operations;
· Periodically prepare news releases about the activities, programmes and events in the University College;
· Inform the public of new innovations or outstanding achievements;
· Arrange news conferences and media briefings as and when necessary;
· Develop content for publicity and for uploading on the University College website;
· Work closely with the different sectors of the public so as to ensure that the University College’s services are up-to-date with the changing market needs;
· Advise Management on emerging opportunities available on the market;
· Conduct research to gauge the ratings and attitudes about the University College and its services so as to ensure on-going improvement;
· Periodically compile and prepare reports on the PR image of the University College, and make the necessary recommendations for the consideration of Management.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
· The Communications Officer should hold a Bachelor’s degree in Journalism, Mass Communication, Media Studies, Public Relations or any other related field;
· Additional qualification in Marketing or any other related field shall be an added advantage;
· A minimum of two years’ experience in a similar position.
· Excellent command of English, both oral and written is a must; Knowledge of any other language will be an added advantage;
· The jobholder must have mastery of reporting and media procedures;
· Excellent computer literacy skills;
· Excellent people and organisational skills.
