About NMS:
National Medical Stores is an autonomous Corporation that was
established by an Act of Parliament 1993. Our mandate is to procure, store and
distribute medicines and other medical supplies to public health facilities in
Uganda.
Job Summary: The
Co-ordinator, MIS Support Officer will provide practical support to all
computer users in NMS.
Key Duties and
Responsibilities: 
  • Offer technical support to their end users
    whether over the phone or in person, to solve their computing problems in
    a timely manner.
  • Monitor equipment for errors or stoppages
    and take remedial action
  • Intuitively troubleshoot difficult or
    unusual situations
  • Document and review system processes and
    procedures
  • Attend relevant product and skill courses
  • Identify, plan and provide appropriate IT
    user training
  • Assist, plan and manage issue device
    consumables (toner, printer ribbons, printer cartridges, hard disks,
    compact disks, DVDs, Mouse pads, etc.)
  • Coordinate and liaise with vendor’s
    services and end-users requirements(service/maintenance schedules,
    initiate and follow up jobs to conclusion)
  • Significantly contribute to ensuring that
    the Helpdesk systems and software are developed, kept up to date and
    messages are passed on and feedback received promptly.
  • Offer technical support to physical,
    telephone and email requests from users for all PC hardware, software and
    associated peripherals.
  • Log all support calls and document their
    outcome to facilitate the resolution of common queries.
  • Redirect or escalate support requests to
    the appropriate member of the MIS Section.
  • Pro-actively provide information to users
    on the progress of outstanding support calls.
  • Performs his/her duties while adhering to
    approved policies
Qualifications, Skills and
Experience: 
  • The candidate should possess an Honors
    Bachelor’s degree in any of the following: Computer Science, Computer
    Applications, Information Technology or their equivalents.
  • Possess a Post Graduate Qualification in
    Computer Science or its equivalent (constitute an additional advantage)
  • Professional Information Technology
    Certifications such as Oracle Database Administrator Certified
    Professional, Microsoft Certified IT Professional (MCITP) Database
    Administrator, Oracle Certified Professional, MySQL 5 Database
    Administrator or IBM Certified Database Administrator. (Constitute an
    additional advantage)
  • At least three years’ post-qualification
    experience.
