BBOXX is an international company based in London leading the solar
revolution across the developing world.  Currently operating in 14
different countries BBOXX has already electrified 200,000 people.  We
are aiming to make that number 20 million by the year 2020.Unlike other
off-grid solar providers, BBOXX controls the whole process from design to manufacture
to distribution and financing. 
Key Duties and
Responsibilities: 
  • Ensure the operating system (ERP) is
    online all the time and up to date with physical stock and expenses of the
    entire country business
  • Responsible for the formulation of
    accounts payable and receivable policies to cover both payments and
    receipts
  • Prepare bank reconciliations on a monthly
    basis
  • Prepare payrolls, NSSF and NHIF for all
    employees
  • Routine Pay As You Earn matters and year
    end completion of Pay As You Earn returns
  • File VAT returns accurately and on time
  • Responsible for filing yearly tax return
  • Ensure petty cash is well accounted for at
    any time
  • Report accurately and on time to
    accountant based in London
  • Train all Hub managers/keepers on basic
    accounting knowledge in ERP.
  • Recommend in house accounting manuals and
    process flows to be followed at HQ and all Hubs.
  • Carry out routine Hub Accounting Audits
    with recommendation from Management.
  • Maintain records of receipts and payments
    through bank and cash accounts (cash receipt reports and deposit slips)
  • Maintain suitable systems for filing all
    invoices and other items relating to the accounting systems
  • Compile and maintain sales invoices and
    ETR reports from all hubs
  • Maintain detailed list of company assets
    (description, date of acquisition and original cost)
  • Maintain original/copies of purchase/lease
    contracts, and other documents necessary for correct account reporting
  • Compile and prepare report in support of
    returns or claims, e.g. insurance company certificates, government
    department claims, etc.
  • Ensure that all stock taken to and from
    different warehouses is invoiced and transferred real time.
  • Deliver payroll to bank for processing.
  • Ensure petty cash is at the office/safe at
    any one time.
  • Drawing up office budget at the beginning
    of every month and submit for approval.
  • Ensure knowledge of stock level at any one
    time and inform management of need to restock based on the ERP system
  • Sorting and distributing expenses as per
    the ERP system
  • Organising and storing paperwork,
    documents and computer-based information
  • Ensure all cash requests are signed for
    and approved by management
  • Ensure close of day of ERP
Qualifications, Skills and
Experience: 
  • The applicant must be certified public
    accountant (CPA) with a Bachelors degree in accounting or accountancy
  • A minimum of two years’ experience as an
    accountant
  • Possession of a Masters or postgraduate
    qualification in accounting, finance or related field is desired
  • A diploma in accounting, finance or
    related field
  • Honest, reliable and trustworthy character
    (with referees to support)
  • Possess the ability to work independently
    with minimal supervision
  • Computer literacy skills i.e. Competent
    with Microsoft Office (Excel and Word with ERP software
  • Keen attention to detail
  • Previous work in a financial role in a
    fast-moving office environment
  • Attained formal training in IT, reporting
    and business administration
  • Good people management skills and
    abilities
  • Good knowledge of Luganda and other local
    languages a plus
  • Past experience in solar, energy or
    renewables
  • Work with computers
  • Time spent in a retail oriented
    environment
  • Past experience with an international
    organisation or firm
  • A nice big BBOXX smile

  • Fluent in spoken and written English
