About BOU:
The Bank of Uganda (BoU) is the Central Bank of the Republic of Uganda.
It was opened on the 15th  August 1966.
It is 100% owned by the Government of Uganda but it is not a government
Department.  Bank of Uganda conducts all
its activities in close association with the Ministry of Finance, Planning and
Economic Development (MoFPED). Bank of Uganda is responsible for monetary
policy and maintaining price stability.
Job Summary: The Mechanical
Engineering Technician will provide skilled work in the installation, repair,
operation, and maintenance of Bank Generators, Air Conditioning and
Refrigeration and General Mechanical Engineering works.
Key Duties and
Responsibilities: 
  • Coordinate preventive and corrective
    maintenance and repairs on all the generators of the Bank, Air
    Conditioning Plants and Refrigeration system, and General Mechanical
    works.
  • Assess maintenance needs of generators,
    parts replacement requirements and make appropriate recommendations.
  • Perform routine checks on generators and
    air conditioning plant and equipment, and review performance.
  • Carry out verification of works done by
    maintenance service providers on the
  • Bank plant and equipment
  • Evaluate maintenance costs viz a viz value
    for money
  • Coordinate and ensure preventive
    maintenance and repair on the following systems: Bank Generators, Air Conditioning
    and Refrigeration system.
  • Regularly check and log the condition and
    status of the Bank generators, Air Conditioning systems and General
    Mechanics.
  • Provide timely information to the Bank on the
    performance assessment of the service providers.
  • Supervise the service contractors and
    submit reports thereof.  
  • Trouble-shoot and diagnose problems and
    perform maintenance on equipment under his/her jurisdiction.
  • Make recommendations to replace equipment
    if expected cost to repair exceeds possible replacement cost. Minor
    installation decisions may be made if incumbent determines more efficient
    service could be provided. Maintains certain job worksheets detailing
    nature of assignment, parts utilized, time expended and type of work
    performed.
  • Must collect data for reports.
  • Ensure error free information. Effect of
    errors could result in longer down-time on equipment, probable delay in
    bank critical mission activities or other projects and possibly result in
    higher repair costs.

  • Cost effective and efficient operation of
    the mechanical equipment of the Bank.
  • Efficient and effective well maintained Mechanical
    systems.
  • Smoothly running and operational Bank
    generators.
  • Timely verification of maintenance needs
    of Bank Generators.
  • Well functioning Air Conditioning and
    Refrigeration systems.
  • Submission of performance monthly reports.
  • Well maintained safety standards in the
    operation of mechanical equipment.
Qualifications, Skills and
Experience: 
  • The applicant should possess an Advanced
    (Higher) Diploma in Mechanical Engineering with hands on experience.
  • A minimum of five years’ practical
    relevant experience in Mechanical Engineering.
  • Strong organisational and communication
    skills and ability to make quick decisions.
  • Good team player in a diverse environment.
  • Problem sensitivity and problem solving
    skills.
  • Work and Activity scheduling skills.
  • Good coordinating and monitoring skills.
  • Should be ready to work beyond normal call
    of duty.
  • Task and team centered qualities.
  • Self supervised and motivated .
  • Ambitious for self development.
  • Computer literacy skills
Age: 32-35 years.
