Engineering Division
It was opened on the 15th August 1966.
It is 100% owned by the Government of Uganda but it is not a government
Department. Bank of Uganda conducts all
its activities in close association with the Ministry of Finance, Planning and
Economic Development (MoFPED). Bank of Uganda is responsible for monetary policy and maintaining price
stability.
Estate Service will be providing consistent information in maintenance reporting,
establishment of building condition standards and costing and planning and
implementation of maintenance works.
Responsibilities:
- Supports the Head of Engineering Services
in the Supervision of construction and building maintenance works. - Perform routine and long term preventive
maintenance on Buildings. - Work closely with Head of Engineering
Services on routine inspection of the Bank Office Premises and Residences. - Supervise a wide range of facility
remodeling, renovation and construction works which include repairs to
buildings, compounds, pavements and roads. - Support the Head Engineering Division in
designing skilled building maintenance work and on plumbing installations. - Render technical advice on requested
building maintenance services while meeting safety codes, specifications
and budgetary limitations. - Monitor installation of designed systems
to ensure compliance with design specifications and safety codes. - Devise and outline maintenance strategy
and procedures for buildings, plumbing and office repair works. - Provide technical support in the
supervision and routine repairs and maintenance of buildings, plumbing and
office repair works. - Coordinate activities of utility services
providers, technical consultants, Contractors and Valuers. - Plan, budget and co-ordinate the
maintenance of Buildings. - Coordinate the team carrying out valuation
of houses of staff building loan applicants and making technical reports. - Responsible for the preparation of
specifications, Bills of Quantities and contract documents for building
repairs and maintenance works.
- An effective planned preventive
maintenance scheme for Bank Buildings, plumbing services and Office
furniture, machines and equipment repair works. - Technical support to staff building loan
scheme. - Status reports on all building contractual
works.
Experience:
- The prospective jobholder should possess a
First Class/ Upper Second Degree in Building and Civil Engineering. A
postgraduate qualification in any management courses will be an added advantage. - The applicant must also be a registered
Engineer with the Uganda Engineers’ Registration Board (ERB). - A minimum of ten years’ practical
experience in Building Construction and Maintenance - Strong organizational and communication
skills. - Ability to gainfully apply job knowledge.
- Be a good team player in diverse
environment - Should be ready to work beyond normal call of
duty. - Should be well versed with Building Construction
and Maintenance. - Good computer literacy skills i.e. Microsoft
Office + CAD
